whilst we all want 2010 version of daisy if he cant get to that level then we just must make sure he does not trigger any automatic contract renewals. having a spare 750k would be mighty handy in the chase for any fa.
Needs 16 games to trigger contract renewal

Thomas was playing "safe" football last year , not uncommon in older blokes whose bodies are failing them .
The trouble for him this year is that if he serves up that rubbish again you couldn't see Bolton wearing it and he'd see a fair bit of Preston .
But if he goes full bore in the way he used too , he will probably feel that his body will let him down .
I see Bolton and Silvagni as a pretty ruthless combination going forward ... i doubt we'll see Thomas triggering any contract extension clauses .

Hi all, ducked in to training again this morning for an hour, must have been there the same time as Matty411.
Great write up by the way Matty.
The team were running match sim when I first got there and just got to the fence when Jaksch took a great contested mark in the forward line. He then went back for what seemed a long approach but kicked it beautifully.
Lebois showed some real silk on the far side feinting a boundary shot before cutting back in on his left and snapping a short low pass inside hitting his target on the chest. Agility and accuracy on show here and only one play but a little surprised he wasn't taken in the main draft. Most of the newbies seemed to be rotating through this drill but I only saw about 5mins before they came in.
Most of the first year players plus Pickett and Alex S then stayed on the sideline in boxing drills. Pickett was doing a fair bit of instructing here and SPS was easily the most vocally encouraging in the group.
One group of senior players then ran a drill were they were put under pressure on the boundary and had to cut inside and pass to player on the lead. Lebois was still involved at this stage. Armfield put Buckley and some hot pressure and Buckley spun out of trouble and hit his target on this chest. Army then hollered out " If you pirouette on me again Bucks I'm gunna cream ya" (pretty funny)
Also noticed in the back ground that H Mac was training with the ruckman.
The next drill I watched involved the players put forward pressure on opposition defence trying to bring the ball in. Bolts and Walker were involved here as the "defenders" passing the ball across ground looking for options to open up. Was interested to see Weiters training in a forward role here. (Nice photo to come).
Bolts and Walker got right into this and got involved linking up with 1 - 2 handballs. Little mans legs go like a mossy's wings:)
Charlie received a handball from Bolts and was straight under pressure by Wright. Charlee gave Wright the big no argue in the chest and put him on his backside. Wright sort of laid there looking a bit shocked until a couple of boys got around him and got him to his feet. Was some strong play from Charlie but was also good to see the encouragement for Wright.
More match sim and H Mac took a great contested mark from Kruezers missed shot on goal.
Phillips was really impressive and Murphy looks like he has dropped a few kilos and was moving with real pace and agility.
While this was happening Walks sat with Pickett and Lebois and was pointing out passages of play. Really looked like he was enjoying and embracing the mentoring role.
H Mac, Murph, Phillips and Lebois for mine that caught the eye.
Photies to come, :D

Interesting snippet about Weitering MrJones.

When putting together a team for next year, what they plan on doing with him is always the sticking point.
Yeah TW, just one drill but there's a photo I posted of Weiters standing the mark. This drill was obviously about forward pressure.

For those getting excited about the prospect of Weitering being turned into a forward, there's this quote from Dale Amos on the club site:

"Across Marchbank, Weitering, Plowman, Docherty and Byrne in particular, they are the younger guys in our backline coming through that we’re hopeful will play a stack of footy together."

While he may go forward occasionally, that would seem to indicate the club sees him as a defender for the long term.
