Just as I suspected. Alot of rocks up there.

Does that mean you think we would still have a chance in a GF without Pav, and that you therefore agree that he's not a vital component?

It really is a fairly straightforward concept, I don't know why people are getting their knickers in a twist over it.

So, not vital then.
Give it a rest mate, we all got your point about 37 posts ago. Sometimes it's better to concede there are alternative opinions rather than insisting on being right and having the last word.

Now, anyone get down to training?

OK, I shall, as you request, give it a rest. I don't agree that everybody got the point though, because there is no alternative opinion as to whether something is black or white.

Training Report

A fantastic spring like day meant great skills on the park today as the Big Footy team took their place on the fence in the warm sunshine.

Great to see Ghost Pig join the other regulars too as the boys were put their paces on the field.

The rehab group consisted of Ibbo, Luke McPharlin, Clancee Pearce, Max Duffy, Josh Simpson and Sam Menegola and only did light jogging.

Josh Mellington was sighted in the gym only today and there was no sign of Sandi.

Ballas trained fully today so I think he will play after all, whilst Jack Hannath trained with the main group today in the place of Sandi.

At the end of the session the team was split into 3 groups being the forwards, mids and the backs.

The backs included Alex Silvagni, Zac Dawson, Paul Duffield, Johnno, Peter Faulks and Alex Howson and didn't really do a lot.

The forwards included Ballas, Crozier, Pav, Mayne and Walters and at the end of the match sims Sonny and Mayney took turns at kicking bananas from the boundary line right in front of us. We were that close to Sonny that we could smell the fabric softener in his underpants. At one stage Sonny missed a banana shot on goal and said to a trainer, "Don't worry, I will nail these on Saturday night."

Pav then had a few shots from 50m out and he nailed 99% of them from many different angles and distances. It may have been the warm sunshine or something, but Pav looked really good today and moved beautifully.

The mids included Mundy, Barlow, Hill, Neale, De Boer and Suban and did some stoppage work with Mark Stone and Brett Kirk. This saw Zac Clarke and Jacky Hannath rucking against each other during the drills.

Ross "The string bag" Lyon was very involved today as he personally took the side through several set plays under his own guidance.

Poor Suma copped a nasty falcon today but was able to continue coaching and it was great to see that Bluey has fixed that noisy water pump finally.

Cheers mate :)

Cheers for the report Harry, good to hear you boys are giving extraordinary effort down there.

Nice report Harry, moving into best seller territory. Have you got an agent?

Ballas trained fully today so I think he will play after all...

Just caught a brief interview with RTB on the radio, to paraphrase - even though Ballas has been cleared to play by medical staff we will be taking a conservative approach. Sounded to me like he may still sit out a week.

Mark Duffield? LOL Harry Reems

Great to hear Bluey has fixed the water pump.

Whoops, I was reading "The Worst Australian" at breakfast this morning and had senior football writer Mark Duffield on my mind when I wrote my training report.

I have now fixed the problem.

Just for you Seppo. JC's mullet is getting longer at the back, but that didn't stop him from putting in a great session with the side today. Jesse played on the wing and delivered the ball lace out into the forward line several times today.

I think he will be named emergency again today.

With the Sydney V Geelong game on before our game starts, there may be a late change.

Yes it is very straight forward. Pavlich is a vital part of our finals campaign.

Of course it's a ridiculous argument. The thought that we could even get close to winning a game without Pav in the side is ludicrous.

I don't think that's really the issue, the point is that when he's in the side our whole forward structure improves immeasurably, in the 7 games he's played this year we've kicked 100 or more points in all but 1 of those games with the exception being the Essendon game where he was on 1 leg.

Sure we've been able to put together wins without him but offensively we're so much more potent with him in the team even if he isn't kicking many goals himself.

Good job Harry. I was going to head down this morning but something else came up.

Did Sutty train with the main group or the WAFL boys?
He trained with the main group Gaskin. The WAFL boys didn't train separately today, I guess their season finishes this weekend.

No argument here.

My specific point was that Pav is not vital to our finals success. The English language may be an inconvenience to some, but I'm rather fond of it.

So how about that training hey?

All the BF training watchers were mindfull of your dilemma Mr Boot as to whether Pav is vital to our finals success. This is a vexing question that we all thought deserved an answer so after deciding on the best way to approach Pav decided if we all winked at Pav who was shooting for goals in front of us to get his attention, gather our thoughts and concentrate hard especially Irish Docker who we thought might confuse Pav with his irishness( Coulda who was locked in a conversation with himself as to why Tendai has to stay on the left of the clearances and only handpass with his left hand so was exempted) and channeled all our thoughts towards Pav and asked with our minds eye that very vital question .Quick as a flash the answer was there indelibly inprinted into our grey matter yes yes yes and more yes's.
So to answer your question Mr Boot Pav is vital to a sucessfull finals campaign and that is straight from the horses mouth
