Training Report

Good turn out at training today by the Big Footy viewing team, and of course Bluey.

I will start off with the light duties crew and that was just David Mundy, Hayden Crozier and Alex Forster today.

Those just watching training from the stands today included Craig Moller, Sam Menegola, Max Duffy, Tanner Smith and Luke McPharlin.

Ballaz watched training from behind the goals and looked eager to participate, but he didn't.

The WAFL group included Josh Mellington, Viv Michie and special guest star Mathew Pavlich today.

Nick Suban and Sandi trained fully with the main squad, as did Lachie Neale, Jack Hannath, Alex Silvagni and Matty Taberner.

Not sighted today was Peter Faulks and Anthony Morabito.

The boys all had a good session on the track today, however we all held our breath when Johno went down and then limped off the field. He did emerge later and resumed training so we all hope he is okay to play Saturday.

As mentioned previously, David Mundy took it easy today but seemed to be moving okay. I think they are just resting his ankle and he should play.

Nick Suban looked fine, as did Sandi so I think they will both come in for Neale and Hannath.

I presume the double ss's Sutcliffe and Sheriden trained with the main group?

About time Pavlich was dropped to the WAFL group - did nothing last week!

Yes both Sherro and Sutty trained with the main group today.

One funny moment I remember today was when Fyfey had a shot for goal 50 metres out and on a slight angle. He kicked the ball beautifully, however it faded right and went through for a behind.

Ross then made him take the kick again from the same spot whilst everyone else had to stand around and watch him retake the kick. This time though the ball went through middle and all the players stood as one and applauded.

We were all about to jump the fence and run onto the ground, but common sense got the better of us and we didn't.

Please don't ever leave BF buddy.

Harry you reminded me of Tommy Smith with the binoculars standing next to the rail watching thoroughbreds race around the track today .

The only thing letting you down was the hat, Tommys was a classic .

Yes it was a good crowd of BF posters today and I agree with everything said but has anybody seen Salam's glasses. I think he might have left them at Culley's .(in house joke for training attenders )

Crozier was moving quite well and Crowley in the match simms was tagging Hilly .
Obviously the lessons are continuing because others were trying to block Cowl's getting to Hill as well , good to see them trying to help him work out how to get into the space he needs in the game.
There was quite a bit of discussion about delistings and pretty well as one Critch woud be one to go .

Simpson was doing match simms with the boys and RTB gave him a great thumbs up for 1 of his leads into space and a good mark.
Mel Winnens (I'm a Claremont man that's as close as it gets) name got a few mentions today about his non training days and his pregame routine he would have been delisted from any AFL list in the first 2 weeks . IE: train 1 day a week and kick a ball for 20 minutes before a game that was it .

Anyone get down today? I'm at Uni until 2:30 on Tuesdays so they are no good for me anymore. I'll be there on Thursday though.

I decided not to go down today because last Tuesday was a waste of time.

Ross is allowing them time to recover from the weekend's games on Tuesdays so they don't do too much. Thursdays or Fridays (Sunday games only) are the best training sessions to attend.

Here is the club's own training report though.

Hate the damn club reports so lifeless compared to our reporters... where is the Ballas sighting, where is the Mora report... *sigh*

Yeah, not much to go no there. Though this was mentioned:

Viv Michie and Hayden Crozier stuck to the boundary, running laps.

Viv picked up a light injury of sorts? Unusual for the WAFL boys to do light duties unless there's an injury ... or have I got that wrong.

Also would like to know if Suban was out there after the talk of injury on him too.

Maybe getting the k's in the legs - with that being only hurdle remaining prior to selection consideration...
Michie's WAFL form has been easiest best of the lot. The fitness lost with two years out has to get built back in, for the RTB system to use him effectively.

Suban's not on the inj list ;)

Doubt it since he played against Geelong.

as the... SUB that's right. So he was intended to be used for a qtr. With Duff's injury he was called on sooner. Sub position is not his - that's owned by Subcliffe ;) (who was unavail v GEE).

Reckon the Club is pumping up the endurance tyres regardless.

Apparently there was a light-training sesh today, anyone hear about it?

They used to do 2 full on training sessions per week and those were Tuesdays and Thursdays for Saturday games and Wednesdays and Fridays for Sunday games.

But now they are doing two light sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday instead, followed by one main session which includes match sims.

Thursdays before a Saturday game and Fridays before a Sunday game are the main sessions as they always get a rest the day before they play.

After lunch on Wednesdays they do the match review with the players from the game on the weekend and they always get Mondays off.

for Melbourne dwelling Freo fans, the club is having a few players sign autographs at Junction Oval, St Kilda on Sunday at 9am, so if you have kids you might like to bring them down. Sausage sizzle 2.

Training Report

Good to see a paddock full of players training today. The only ones missing were McPharlin, Morabito and the other obviously injured players. Max Duffy however trained on his own and looks ready to play for East Fremantle this week. I saw Jon Griffin having a swim in the lap pool and Kepler Bradley was seen wandering around the club too.

I got there late today but was told that Ibbo did in fact train earlier, however he did not take part in the match sims. The same went for Michael Johnson.

Ballas trained fully, so did Nick Suban.

A fit looking and slightly thinner Pav re-joined the WAFL boys which included Hayden Crozier, Josh Mellington, Josh Simpson and Jesse Crichton.

Taberner, Neale, Suttcliffe and Sheridan all trained with the main squad today, as did Craig Moller.

No stand outs at training today and it wasn't exactly a full on session, however it's great to see so many players available to train today.
