Mega Thread TRAINING REPORTS

To quote Ross Lyon, "you are spot on". My only concern is our backline with injuries to Johnson, Ibbo, Luke and Clanger.

Cheers. Little concerned with media reports about Mac still being undecided upon. My understanding was that he trained strongly last Thursday but wasn't risked for various reasons... unless Ross is toying with Geelong atm and giving nothing away.

At least the forecast is for 15-20km winds (not much) and chance of shower - pretty reasonable really.

Are you looking at Melbourne or Geelong? Generally speaking, Geelong is usually 5-15 km windier and a couple of degrees colder (before any chill factor) than Melbourne.

Saw local Geelong people mention on their board that the weather's coming in and they suspect pretty poor conditions by the weekend - not gale force Antarctic which you can get down there of course, but poor none the less - they're fairly used to it of course, but hopefully our players get their heads around playing in some pretty ordinary stuff this week.

EDIT: just checked myself, looks like you got that from Geelong region.

i think there is definitely some drakes and daggers going on. I'd not be surprised by Silver being named in the squad, and a last minute change for Macca, and same with Ibbo. Based on how quickly Suban was subbed a couple weeks ago, i recon they have been ultra conservative with the guys, ever since we had top 4 locked.

I have no real concerns with Hill, MJ etc, all just trying to keep the Catters guessing.

Yeah, as I said above, I just checked myself. They're saying max 15, so with a bit of win and the odd shower, it's still going to be very cold - though not as bad as it can get down there when the wind comes off the Southern Ocean at gale force.

MJ played against Port with his calf strapped. Can't remember further back with any certainty. Just checked some vision from the Adelaide game. L calf was strapped in that game. Residual bruising from Richmond match?

Yeah, I was going to post basically the same thing. I think MJ has been playing with a little tweak for a few weeks now. He's still been in pretty good form though, so I'm not too worried.

Thanks Harry and Salim you guys are the best .
concise , to the point and looking out for the rest of us that can't get down there Im going to try and get down on Thursday job permitting .
Can't wait for Thursday to see who trains with the main body .
By the way Johnson always goes easy and looks proppy on Tuesdays .
The calf has been strapped most training days don't worry he will be fine .
You couldn't keep Son Son out of this match if he was on 1 leg and crutches ;)

Elvis was training on Saturday and was running freely and with good pace so I think he was very close to playing but medicos wanted him to go in fully fit .

I think they would have been patting them selves very hard on the back for that decision when Clancee broke down . Then a sigh of relief they didn't give the o\k for Elvis to play.

Well I put my head in this morning and spent a bit of quality time with the BF regulars, having a laugh at being the only team in town in September, deciding where to erect the statue of Ross and generally enjoying the festive vibe around Freo Oval. I'm house-sitting just around the corner from the ground so was wonderful to pick up a coffee along the way and stroll down with my Freo scarf digging the day.

I confess I didn't pay a lot of attention to who was doing what, was more just soaking up the feeling of being a serious contender in September and feeling happy for the players who have worked so hard all year and a little sad for those who won't make it.

Silvagni just pushed out the laps and looked in ripping shape, wouldn't be surprised to see him get a gig this week with Pearce and Ibbotson ruled out. One thing you know with Sos, he will go to war for the jumper and never shirk a contest. That counts for a bit with Ross in a game like this I reckon.

Clarke trained well & looks much bigger now, between him and Sandi we have some serious size and strength in the ruck which is one of Geelongs weaknesses so perhaps we will get an edge here.

Hill looked a million bucks, I spent a fair bit of time just enjoying watching him run and kick the footy, moving like a little gazelle. Speaking of which Josh Simpson was doing kick to kick with Howson and making the simple act of kicking a footy look like dancing. His left is a thing of beauty.

Mundy was very sharp in the drills around goal and landing them of a couple of steps left and right foot.
Pav didn't do a whole lot but he is the one I'm happiest for, how wonderful for him to be rewarded for all his loyalty and faith in the club by September action at the pointy end of 8.
Mayne was very active in the drills, marking strongly and directing traffic. A real leader now.

Great to chat to all the BF crew today and really just appreciate how far the team has come this year.

Silvagni is really becoming our Mr September. I believe Mcpharlin will not play, there is still some doubt as Ross was definite on inclusions(hill,Suban,Walters) except for Mcpharlin. SCOS played on Podsiadly last year and towelled him up and with Hawkins not 100% would think Johnson/ Dawson can cover their talls of Hawkins/resting Ruck. Mcpharlin to come in next game fingers crossed the prelim.

Regarding the ground being marked out in the Kitchen Park dimensions, how different is the ground from Etihad ?I have seen the comparison, but in terms of how the team will play what can we expect?

Oh yeah, what was I thinking. Scott would have such a head-start against Lyon if we posted a couple of thoughts about how the game may be played.

Only if he hears about our top secret Memories plan to get one of our replaceable players to crunch one of theirs out of the game.

You know what be a good idea if someone built a stadium with a roof so we don't have to worry about the weather, oh well wishful thinking i guess

The problem will be their little blokes, over the last few weeks its their varcoe, motlop, type midfield players who kicked goals.
