Training Squad Draft

Corrie seems to have some decision making problems in the few games that he has on youtube, but whether that is an experience thing or a genuine part of his game, who knows. Personally I'd prefer Casserly if he's over his injuries, because he can definitely contribute.

Corrie looks alright but he doesnt seem to have much speed and also goes to ground to easily. While i like casserly i dont think he would be able to make it at he top level as he looked at tad slow in the clip and whilist i havent seen kendell from reports he goes alright.

Are you sure you haven't got these two mixed. I saw Casserley go ground twice in the only two contested situations on the highlights package and the rest of his possessions were on his own in an open backline, but did seem to have some 'burst' through the middle bringing it in.

Personally I think this squad concept is a great idea. We can watch them right through the summer, and they get to train in a 'professional' environment and go and sell themselves elsewhere after that if they don't get chosen.

Sorry didnt mean slow by running i meant with how quick he got back up and i still believe that corrie goes to ground when he doesnt need to.

OK..agree with the 'slow to get up'.

On Corrie, have to admit I didn't pay attention to that, so can't comment. No doubt people going to training will keep us updated on all 3.

The club should rookie Mitch Keddell he has good kick and also very quick in running.
Liam Corrie is anither witha good kick, also quite quick in his pace.

Corrie is a freak. Fantastic pace over the first 5m, very quick sideways movement & agility. Has been playing seniors since May 2009, but hasn't yet made an impact at that level. Unfortunately he plays for Souths, who don't exactly have a good reputation for culture & development and only won 3 games this year. I'm glad someone decided to back themselves in and give Corrie a shot. Training Squad is the perfect avenue for a player like Corrie who really needs to work on his work ethic over 4 quarters. On the ground, he is a fantastic inside player for his size & stature, but he doesn't get in there enpugh. Quick hands, but will often back himself to run the ball out. His breakaway pace is fantastic as is his disposal by foot over the medium distance. He tends to be a bit single-minded - he's either too defensive or too offensive and playing for Souths makes it hard for a young player like Corrie to have a red hot go. As an outside player, I don't think he knows the right places to run, but again, its hard to judge when your playing for a team like Souths. In the right environment I think he could flourish.

doesnt look slow in this highlight package and skills look quite good

If Fev is sacked by Brisbane this week, would us or the Hawks be able to add him to the training squad and potentially take him as a rookie?

BUMP - Travis Casserly was up before the legal fraternity for his WAFL GF drug issue last night.

His case is that he took a Sudfed before the game and one during and that due to extreme dehydration and alcohol consumtion in the two hours before his sample request the result has been elevated. The two sudafed are within allowed limits - and did so while at Richmond apparently as Richmond attested to this during the hearing.

The other interseting fact out of Richmond - this charge has already affected his career as he would have been taken in the rookie draft if not the National draft by us had this charge not been hanging over his head!

I'd paste the link but dont have scissors and glue available - someone with more time can get elctronic instead of me reading the actual stuff printed on processed tree.

So basically we wanted him but because of the hearing we decided to select for the training squad to wait for his court case?

That's the way it reads - but also reading between the lines it may be that he is no longer a shoe in to get the last spot.

How long until the final spot is officially announced?

It is very strange nothing has been said, you would think there would be some time frame before the start of the season. I get the feeling we had Casserly pencilled in then his issue went down.

yes we picked up Paul Johnson. Not sure weather or not richmond has picked their player? But pretty sure use can still take Tuck!

That would be strange, but I would have thought only the players in the actual clubs training group could be picked:confused:

I really wouldn't mind seeing us Tuck, His still young and to set him up with Shane wouldn't be so bad imo and would straighten him out. I remember him being in the best's alot for the Hawks about 2 years ago so he does have some talent and still only young. If i was Richmond i'd give it a go.:thumbsu:

It's been Keddell for a while now hasn't it? Casserley is out of the picture and I thought the other guy wasn't even training with us anymore.
