Look I don't always agree with what you say but if I'm ever going to war you're coming.
we will come out on top regardless of numbers against

This thread should pick up soon. 1st to 4th year players have 1 more week of holiday (many already back early). Keen to see overall who has come back in the best shape

Get that day one 2km time trial or yo-yo test going

Once everyone gets back in dec I’m expecting both our recruits Logue and Tucker to dominate time trials with only Jy getting close to them

Look I don't always agree with what you say but if I'm ever going to war you're coming.

Put theZ on the front line solo, explain that all enemy soldiiers are Mahony or JMac or their relatives.

The rest of us can then sit back with a beer and watch tZ shred the entire enemy single handedly!

I think every player should be going above and beyond to improve weaknesses for him it’s stamina. You don’t get a free pass to doing extras cos you are a good player.

And as a senior player I do like those that come back early and set an example

Ziebs, Jy, Hugh, kayne, lmac all have done that this preseason
You aren’t reading what I’m writing. I think he has worked on his endurance and will not progress any further. Doing more will just fatigue his body and likely diminish his gains in other areas.

Happy was working with the same guy Chaz Lazz was last off season, some sprinting coach. IIRC.

Dunno about Ben tho.
Imagine being a key defender and accelerating out with that control and intensity.

Interestingly what we learnt from the footage is Ben will probably get burnt pretty easy with the space Harry will give him😂

I’m not trying to be overly critical I just think there are so many physical parts of our guys game that needs to broken down and worked on

What an astonishingly bad take that was, even by the Ziebull's already pathetically low standards.
What? That senior players should set an example and come back to training early amongst our young lads and that cunners never does? Goes away to his farm does his fishing each year then comes back when he has to instead of early to get around the boys and drive standards

And cunners fitness is a weakness of his.

What part is wrong there?

The part that is wrong is your brain.
Lol such a nuffy
so you couldn’t disagree with anything that was said cos it was facts

Shoutout to the leaders that have come back early to set the tone

Jy, Luke, jz, Kayne, Hugh, tucker etc

And yet none of those players (Jy the exception) are fit to shine Cunners’ shoes.
I’m pretty sure Ben has worked out what works best for his game by now.
I guarantee the club do not have a problem with him taking the time off, so I’m not sure why you are so hung up on it…

Some people don’t like when facts are against certain players

It’s a simple observation of cunners doesn’t come back to training early in his career to help set standards whereas others do

Take it how you will but that’s what’s happened over his journey

Whereas Jz as an example would, I guess that’s part of why one has been captain and the other not. Trying to drive team standards and make others better also

mate i reckon a bloke who has literally recovered from a ****ing life or death situation over the last year is entitled to some downtime

Sure but what about earlier in his career?

He was still going up to the farm and coming back only when he needed to

Anyway this is going around in circles the point has been made

wait, so he took the time off mandated in his contract and you're upset by that?

he's a private bloke who likes spending time away from the city. just because he's not putting in the work at the ground in front of the cameras doesn't mean he's not putting in the work

it's also worth noting how many of the young kids over the years have said that they all look up to ben, how much of an important mentor he is, especially for the midfielders, and how much time he's spent running through tape with them to help them get better

just because he's not at the ground when he's not supposed to be doesn't mean he doesn't set standards

He obviously sets standards when he’s there…
This is talking about going above and beyond to improve everyone faster

Did I really read that right?

Going above and beyond huh?

Like sitting and watching tape with first and second year players after training and games when there's nothing in his contract that says he has to?
Like turning up at the club while still undergoing chemotherapy?
Like arguably rushing back from two bouts of cancer to play in a bottom side, in the last round, interstate with nothing to play for?
Like taking drills at training during his chemo where he was gaunt and had not a single hair on his head? Or being in the team photo the same way?

Not every player is going to be a perfect inside outside mix of contested footy and gut running a 5:50 2k time. Cunners is what he is and at mid 30s after 2 rounds of chemo, I don't think turning up a few weeks early is going to increase his fitness base dramatically enough to make a difference. He's an inside bull who is going to get caught on the spread because he's slower than a wet week, but that's why we have LDU, Phillips, Wardlaw etc. They run both ways so Cunners doesn't have to

This is all without saying the obvious that just because it's not on Insta doesn't mean it didn't happen. He probably has a strict routine he's following put in place by club physios and doctors and his oncologist and any number of other medical staff. If he turns up to pre season when he's supposed to and he's overweight and shit and fat, then we can revisit this, but if anyone has earned the right to return on his own time, it's the heart and soul country boy who's been through something most of us, and most of his teammates can't even fathom - that of facing your own mortality down

The bloke has earned the right. He deserves to finish his career without this weird fixation or speculation on why he is or isn't doing something in his 12 or 13th pre season

The shittest thing about your take is the assumption that coming back early is the right thing for every player to get better.

Some players need their time away from the game more than others.

Many clubs have improved by switching off better and finding more fun around the club rather than taking everything seriously. Different strokes for different folks, and you're not going to be in the best position to know from behind your keyboard.

This times by 1000000000000%

He can come back at whatever time he sees fit and Just about everyone wouldn’t even bat an eyelid. Everything he has done over the last 18 months during his own personal battle gives him that right.

If anyone deserves an extended break with his family it’s Cunners.

Yes ignore that or those comments, not tZ cause he’s as quirky AF.

Not sure Cunners will ever say how it was discovered (cancer) but by crikey the universe was looking out for him.

On point it is pointless engaging in that type of chat it is too far to bring it back to plausible.

Oh well

Can anyone tell who the bloke is in front of Xerri?
