"JHF - You could very visibly see him losing it, up to the point where he exploded. Didn't have a heap go right, possibly just a bad day, but the good players manage to keep their head in the game and still contribute. Just looks so slow when he doesn't have the ball. Struggles to run, lots of walking and slow jogging. And as a result really struggles to find the ball in space. Had a few small glimmers of brilliance but otherwise a dirty day."

Couldn't help but chuckle. Doesn't seem like much has changed.

But what did Corn say?

"You can see the kids got a lot of passion. Wears his heart on his sleeve and those umpires should take a good hard look at themselves. Based on this game alome they should offer him another 6 years."

Whilst I don’t wish him the worst. It is quite validating that his issues which supposedly stemmed from a lack of support at North, have followed him to Alberton.

Feel exactly the same way. I want us to be vindicated regarding his piss poor bad attitude.

I think we're judging Phoenix too harshly. He's needed time to build up his body and is a good size now. Judge him at the end of the year.

With regard to Kozy, he came in with a ready-made body. We shouldn't be comparing the two.

Lastly, there's a young fellah called Nick Watson in the next draft that goes alright.

I am not judging him, he might click and become a great player, might not. What I saw on the park wasn't good, in that he sat back instead of go for the ball, almost like he didn't want to pick the ball up because he was afraid of the body contact.

We picked him up with a round two pick, I don't think you should get the same expectation as a rookie. It is not his fault where the club picked him up but players have to wear that baggage.

He just needs to crack in and go hard, get the ball and run, if he doesn't have wheels at that height and weight category than what assets does he have? Most players have absolute shockers early in their career but you tend to see signs of what is to come. I am eager to see what Clarkson does with him.

What's happened to this bloke?

Seriously. This is the same footballer we were all jizzing about for the first half of last year. What a downfall.

AFL footy is no joke and the scrutiny is only going to get tougher on him when he is not performing. As much as that's going to be a huge factor for his mental health, the media won't hold back as they have almost pushed high draft pick footballers to suicide. JHF needs guidance, direction and someone that can keep him on track. Maybe we didn't support him enough or maybe he doesn't give a shit, but at the end of the day AFL footy is all he has got going for him so that's going to be making his head spin pretty hard. That pressure will only get worse and worse. Do I wish that on him? Of course not. Should he expect it as a high draft pick? Absolutely. Is he prepared for the stringent and high standards of AFL football? I am not confident.

It's such a shame really. I feel like this is going to go the complete wrong direction. All he had to do was finish his contract and grow up.

It turns out that a year ago we had no idea just how under developed his sense of maturity, his ability to commit, and his level of intelligence were.

You don't have to be a Rhodes scholar to play footy, but I think we'd all presumed that he at least had an ability to vaguely conceptualise the prerequisites.

Turns out we might have been wrong.

Still has time to make it but **** me he is making it harder.

Needs to avoid the media, avoid the talk and get to business. High draft picks taking the media spotlight is just plain dumb. Really dumb.

Cranking it right now.

Nothing's happened to him. It's not like he was a level headed, hardworking operator when he arrived at North. These have clearly been long term problems. He was picked at 1 because of his talent, not because of his temperament or work ethic.

The good news for him is that the fire in his belly and his obvious competitive spirit can be channelled in helpful ways, and these temperamental/mentality issues resolved, if he has the right guidance around him. I'd say being on a 10+ win team (no way Poort are winning less than that, despite what we all want to believe) and receiving guidance from the staff at Poort would just about be enough for him to overcome the twin obstacles of his own personality and whatever grandiose egotism has been planted into his head by his prick of a stepfather, who I've heard wields undue influence in his life and who he's allegedly scared of

I won't go as far as to say that this applies to JHF, but for some players it's not a case of whether the guidance/support is there. They are too arrogant to listen to others and take in guidance.

Ben Simmons walked into the Boomers practice at 16 and started arrogantly talking down to experienced pros. You need some arrogance but you also need a degree of humility and respect to be great.

Abusing umpires in an intra club? What the actual * is wrong with this kid?

At a guess I’d say he’s had that much wind blown up his arse by people who don’t have his best interests at heart, he’s lost all perspective.

If rumours are correct and Port were in his camp‘s ear pre draft, then they’ve got themselves to blame if this goes **** up.

His ****ing manager. How hard is it to know that he’d be best to knuckle down, do his 2 years at North, and then reassess.

Or scurrilous insult to his peers.

BTW - Who's heading down for the intraclub tomorrow? I'm half and half at the moment, got a bit on but itching to see us in something close to a real game for the first time under Clarko.

Unfortunately I can’t make it but will be tuning in on the live stream.

Another comment from the Poorta Dlelie board

JHF nice broken tackle and burst from stoppage on the wing his only highlight

Watching him off the ball the dude was walking/slow jogging hands on hips style... like carn it's a trial but you'd think he'd offer a bit more... hoping for more in practice matches

JHF absolutely stunk it up in ports internal tonight. Couldn’t get near it and gave away a double 50 for umpire abuse.

Happy Friday north fans
Went down hill directly after Kane Cornes took a poke on twitter and called him his boy.

The last name of the BJJ coach should be familiar 👍🏼

They never should have given up the group BJJ sessions that they were doing years back.

Incredibly good sport for Cardio and Core Strength, and incredibly safe as long as you're not grappling with a teenage hothead who thinks he's king shit wanting to do what he saw on UFC

Any chance one of you folks could record the live stream tomorrow? Got kids sport…..

Same issue for me Chop, junior cricket and other kid arrangements making it impossible to attend the intra (nor watch live) unfortunately. Hoping there’s a replay available. 🤞

Happy fan day! Taking the family down. What’s parking like nearby?
