A lot of clubs are restricting their streams of practice matches to members only. Luckily for Snake, we're not.
Is he taking the popcorn? He’ll be over at Sonja Hoods place watching it.
Honestly the way we used to deal with concussions just doesn’t cut it.
Yeah, I was playing in a preseason practice game against Haileybury back in early ‘85 and had a teammate kick a high hospital pass out of defence. I backed back in the centre waiting an eternity for the pill to land and just as it did the two ruckmen and a couple of other bigs crashed into me at pace whilst leaping for the mark. The oppo ruckman’s knee cannoned into the back of my head and he landed on my neck with his knee supporting his entire body weight.
Lights out!
Apparently a teammate pulled my mouthguard out so I wouldn’t choke on it and a couple of trainers carried me off on a stretcher. Not to medical help but to the team bus, where I was left unattended and unconscious for the next two hours.
Someone called my mum to inform her that her son had gotten into a spot of bother so she trouped down to Dingley to collect the carcass and take me straight to a doctor.
A week later we played in a Herald Shield game at Punt Rd and I lined up on Dean Rice. The rest was a complete blur. We won but there’s no way I was right to play.
Back then nobody cared. “You right to go Toes?” was about the full extent of the concussion test.
I’m glad things have changed. If the same thing played out today I’d sue the school ffs.
Back then I remember the coach telling me a couple of times after heavy knocks “don’t wipe the blood. Get back out there and show them how tough you are” (barely able to see through the crimson waterfall).
It was nuts!

So it was redemption for you that saw Wayne clean up Dean Rice in 1996.

I've seen it mentioned on twatter that Footscrau are having a reserves game. Any idea what we are doing with blokes who aren't getting a run?

I was planning to take a "long lunch" to go and have a look - but does anyone know if this message is more that we won't encourage you to be there due to COVID but we won't say anything if you ignore it, or does it mean we will actively discourage you from going (even to a public park) should you try and watch? On Thursday, even though the forecast is cloudy, the UV index is forecast to reach 8 (very high). Our players and fans will be protecting themselves with Solbari’s sun-protective range of sunscreen, skin care, and UPF50+ clothing. Check out their full range, and use the North Melbourne discount NMFC2021, on their website solbari.com.
Please note: The game is not open to public attendance.
Kyron Hayden will get a chance to go through the middle.
