There was a training session this morning which I arrived approx 45 mins after it started. My thoughts on a few players;

Ryan Burton- was boxing on the sidelines with a trainer and then took goal kicking practice on both feet from outside fifty and close to goal on a angle. Was very impressive as he kicks very well on either side and hardly missed a shot. Kicks 50+ easily. Monkey told me he sees him playing similar to a James Hird type role where he can play forward and occasionally on the ball as he is good below he knees.

Blake Hardwick- looks well developed physically already for a 18 year old and impressed me with his field kicking during a keepings off drill.

James Sicily- to be honest I thought he would have put on more size compared to last year but still looks under weight.

Shem- he physique is simply awesome! He will cause some serious damage if he is deemed good enough to play AFL. Towards the end was given ruck tuition from Monkey and David Neitz. Due to his strength was able to push his opponent off easily during numerous marking contests.

Willsmore- enjoyed his work. Very accurate left foot kick and quite mobile.

Keiran Lovell- pocket rocket. Well built for his size and performed well during the keepings off drill where they had to constantly move hitting targets by foot and hand.

Kaiden Brand- in full training and looks like his long lay off has enabled to put on more size which is probably no surprise as his shoulders needed the most work after his surgery.

Breust- I think he likes the weights room! Noticeable increase in upper body size.

Kade Stewart- seriously if you didnt know any better you thought it was Chad Wingard running around. Excellent left foot kick but needs more size

The group as a whole is quite healthy which was backed up by a number of players. The session was mainly focused on running drills with a few players feeling the pinch towards the end. They are off to the Sunshine Coast on Friday.Cheers.

Willsmore and Webster are about the only two Hawks I wouldn't recognize. They seem to keep a very low profile!

How likely are these guys to debut this year, and who do they play like?

Willsmore plays in the style of Goddard. More outside than in, good distributor of the footy. Great skills, needs to get better in the one on ones but has a lot going for him. Will go close to getting a run next season.

Webster is a little fella, great acceleration and the subsequent hammies that go with guys that go that hard. Disposal is a work in progress. I suppose he is a bit like Miles from the Tigs, a crude competitive type.

I was more referring to the fact that the club comes up here for so called "heat training" that's meant to be beneficial.

Yep, I got that. Just trying to make you feel a bit better about your 'cold' weather :p Better make sure you turn on some Queensland heat over the next few days then or we won't get our Fourthorn ;)

Another cool day today. I've gotta go up to the Sunshine Coast this week, does anyone know of any places I can stake out?

Hey, you Queenslanders need to get down there and report for us.

The HFC website said Saturday open training from 12 O'clock. I arrived at 11.30 only to be told training started at 8 a.m. and was finished for the day. Not to pleased as I had an hour drive to get there.

That's a shame. Must have been a stuff up on the website because this twitter post said it would start at 8am.

AFL Sunshine Coast twitter are advertising an open training session, Sat 12 Dec, at MMSC, Fishermans Road, Maroochydore, 8am to 1pm.

Sorry Davo, i'm down in Tassie.
Nice to see some Hawthorn jumpers worn around.

Only loosely related to training, but Burgers posted this from Maloolaba. I'm darned if I can see the snake here  Can anyone else see it?

Right in the middle, very well camouflaged.
