I would just like to see someone in the 2s knocking the door down for promotion. A solid 10-12 game block where he demands promotion. Can't remember the last player who really has done that in their first couple of years at the club (excluding Nick who bypassed that bit).

Beau is a recent example, and before that IQ. Even, dare I say, Ginni got the chance late in his first season and grabbed it.

But none of the more recent draftees have had the solid game block you refer to - and cemented their place.

And IMV they haven’t had the ‘solid game block’ opportunity because they haven’t shown enough.

I have no idea his draft profile is pretty good. Obviously some flaws given his draft range. Seems decently quick.

Zorko ~ Round: 7 Venue: Gabba Date: Thu, 17-Apr-2025 - we exploited him by shutting him down, then he lost the plot. 20 possessions were his 2nd lowest tally for the season, besides the 17 he had against GCS and the 19 he had against us in R22.

Whitfield ~ I can't recall him being beaten in 2025. The only game he didn't impact is when he went off with concussion against the Suns in Round: 16. They were afforded to rest him their following Round, which was a bye, then effectively another bye round when they took on WCE the week after. He returned against the Cats and racked up 32 possessions, receiving 3 coaches votes.
So much of GWS play goes through him off the HBF. How he only earned 1 vote in the 2025 Brownlow tally shows how out of balance towards the midfielders the voting is. Bloke missed 3 games and still had 659 disposals for the season (inc. 1 final)! That is Zorko level of the past 2 seasons.

Not sure if Lachie is good comparison with Pendles because he is only 31. The area of decline I have noticed in Scott over the past year or so is that he gets caught more often, especially run down as if he does not realise how slow he can be. He still bamboozles them with his sidestep but for certain is nowhere near when he was at his peak but if we use him properly he can still be effective and we can still benefit from his leaderhip and footy Iq.

Trust me, as a long-term Seminyak resident, this is embarrassingly true of the average Ozzie tourist.

Fully expecting to come across a comatose Jen lying in a pool of vomit on the pavement outside a local tattoo shop at some point very soon.

But I guess she deserves to let her hair down for a while after her professionalism, hard graft and insightful kindness to those of us who can't get to the games. I might even lend her a helping hand.

Huh? If Pendles is in the backline, I doubt opposition forwards are going to try to defend/negate him. I expect that they'll be trying to exploit his defensive vulnerabilities, particularly by trying to get into space behind him. They'll be doing whatever they can to make Pendles think/play defensively, not the other way around, IMO.

Anyway, let's see what happens. You speak with such aggressive certainty but really neither of us knows whether playing Pendles primarily in defence will work or not. You think it will. I don't. That's fine. Its an opinion forum, after all. Time will tell.

You definitely don’t understand how our defensive grid works, this confirms it. If what you’re saying was true then Josh and Houston would have been consistently torn to shreds last year.
