J-Mac certainly looks bigger. It's not such a bad thing that he is walking laps. At least the club is monitoring him and preventing him from breaking down. We all know he is too good for VFL level but his body has let him down in order for a sustained period of senior exposure. We need to make sure he gets it right or he may well become another Rusling.
Either the "trainer" was firing players up by telling them to work harder but for Wood to repeatedly have to be told to lift his work rate, it really sparks alarm bells about his mindset and approach. Maybe it is his laconic nature (has the Josh Fraser look about him at times which makes him look casual) but we are expecting more from him. Perhaps we are expecting too much but he needs to pull his finger out and show improvement this year and there'll be no excuses now that Fraser is gone as he will get all the game time in the ruck to show his wares in the VFL.
Hoping Macaffer is fine. Nobody is letting on to how serious or not his "injury"/OP really is. He has become a key member of our forward line so with him not out there, his absence will be felt to some extent. I'm hoping he is ok for at least 1 or 2 practice games and then right for round 1.
Hopefully it's just a modified program. From experience though, walking laps is a sign of something to do with the 'strings-usually rehab- but considering nothing has been aired, it may have been just a little tightness.
Let's hope Woody pulls his finger out this year and has a solid year of real development and shows something special.
Agree with Caff. They are certainly trying to manage it.
