It's a big if, but if Messi leaves I'd say Bayern would be the team to get him. Guardiola connection.

Would love to see him in the premier league.

City and PSG had their spending reigned in didn't they?

for a season.

we're on the verge of breaking into the elite in terms of commercial deals. include the fact that england get more money than any other country, and the massive bucks that comes with signing messi, we wouldn't have a problem.

how good would it be if a club like hull or Leicester could afford a messi type player

I did have a fantasy a while back that a player of Messi's ilk, or a manager of Mourinho's ilk would get bored and want to prove they could do it at any level and sign for a small club.

Messi isn't going anywhere. Messi might as well own the club such is the power he holds at Barça. My guess is he's not happy with the current off-field situation and is stirring things up a bit to force the board into action. They've already shifted on Zubizaretta and I wouldn't be surprised if Luis Enrique was next on their hit list.

Yep, it's all fantasy that he'll come to the EPL.

But it would be fricken awesome.

messi could do a maradona at napoli and make hull into a top team, but mou couldnt do much without large financial backing

So you're against loaning players in because they don't want to stay at your club beyond that playing year?
It's not a loan though. It's a shifty arrangement that is borderline legal and involves trusting Chelsea, of all clubs.

On one hand, the kind of money that Messi would demand is outrageous and potentially crippling.

On the other, you'd probably make it all back commercially.

When it was rumoured that Beckham was about to come to us on loan, I was certain to buy a shirt.

Wish I'd bought a Davids kit back in 06 too.

Can only imagine what would happen is someone like Leo came to my club.

We're suggesting it would only happen if the purchase was written into the deal. That way it's not shifty and doesn't involve trust.

Big rumours at the time were that Messi drove the bizarre Martino appointment.

I honestly think Barca would be ok if they sold him.

Look at the great Milan, Ajax, Liverpool sides of 20 years+ ago. At the time, they were indestructible - look at them now. Time waits for no club, and Barca are decomposing before our eyes. Bayern is next, Robben and Ribery losing their pace will hit them hard and they have once again sacrificed German football for the good of their own fishbowl.

We know, you don't rate him.

OK.

So in the end a lot of angst over nothing.
Well it's only Sky Sports so it's probably wrong :p

Hilarious that Defoe is going to price himself out of any move to a club that wants him.

Was going to ask what the go with Defoe is. Maybe he's angling for a move to Liverpool?
