Yep, Robbie Fowler owns over 80 properties and has a net worth of over 31 million pounds

We used to sing "we all live in a Robbie Fowler house, a Robbie Fowler house, a Robbie Fowler house" and "put the rent down for the lads" at him.

Something like 50% of NBA players are broke within 5 years of retiring. Wouldn't surprise me if it's a similar number for the EPL.

I'd be very surprised if it was near that much. Maybe 5% closer to the mark IMO.

David James isn't exactly the smartest man though, is he.

I've always found him pretty bright for a footballer. Divorce, and a few failed investments did it for him. But despite his bankruptcy I don't expect him to be living rough any time soon. He'll still have a pretty comfortable life.

You think? Many will create a lifestyle for themselves which they cannot afford once the money stops coming in.

Not buying that. Maybe in years gone by when the wages weren't as high as they are now. But still not 3 in 5.

I suspect they used a very small sample size. Or included players that might have played in the premier league, but maybe for just a year. Financial problems for lower league players would be much more prevalent IMO, they don't have the same career opportunities post retirement and they never earned that much to start with.

FWIW the PFA disputes the 60% claims, says it's more like 10-20% that face bankruptcy, or financial stress. Even financial stress could mean a lot of things other than going broke.

What were they?

He's just been pissed off by how poorly some of his friends and former team mates have been treated by fans once they've played in the A League, and understandably doesn't want to subject himself to that. Maybe that's a bit soft but the ways in which the likes of Aloisi, Emerton, and to a lesser extent Neill and Kewell were treated was pretty disgraceful at times considering everything they'd done for the game here.

Any truth you think with Bony being linked to City?

we can't afford him at the prices being quoted unless we make like 15 mil in sales. the papers just seem to like ignoring facts like that.

And We Ain't Got No History isn't a source.

They are not a source, they just report on the news and rumours. Good site that.

It's been rumoured(maybe I should have said apparently about) for the last couple of weeks in various media, plus the fact he's apparently in the best 11 of the man who counts. Unfortunately you'll be putting up with him for a while longer.
