Definitely Barkley for me, and not just because the other plays for Arsenal. Barkley crated more chances than any other u23 player in Europes top 5 leagues last season. The next few on the list were the likes of Lemar, Fekir and Suso. I was surprised by that stat, but impressed considering that it's widely acknowledged that there is still a lot of improvement to come from him. I genuinely hope we get it done soon as I believe he could be special under Pochettino and think he would compliment the Kane, Alli, Eriksen triumvirate nicely.
Yep I'd take Barkley over Ox as well.

And neither is Chelsea paying 60m for Morata which was the point of the whole discussion. Clubs everywhere are overpaying for players and demanding ridiculous fees to sell them which is affecting the market, you can't blame it just on the big boys.

Clubs want to fleece the bigger/richer clubs but not want it to affect player price inflation.

You cant have your cake and eat it too.

Depends on the system.

If you're playing counter attack football, then Ox for sure.

Otherwise if you dominate possession and teams park the bus against you, Barkley would be a better option.

Barkley hasn't progressed in the last couple of seasons. He was the next big thing before that. He needs the Poch magic touch to realise his potential. The Ox though, even Poch couldn't work his magic on him. Hugely overrated

Will be interesting to see how Murphy goes, Redmond did pretty decently for Southampton last season, imagine you'd be hoping for a similar sort of impact.

Yeah hoping he can make the step up. He had a pretty good season in the championship (even scoring against us in both fixtures) last season. He's still young so naturally will expect some dips in form every now and again.

Apparently he was also a Toon fan growing up so that helps win him some brownie points haha.

Speaking of impact, must be getting excited about WHU's chances this season. Some very exciting additions! Think you guys might make some waves.

Hopefully we've signed actual quality this off-season instead of just quantity.

All 4 players we've signed should be starters though.

They've made a 72m bid apparently.

Doubt we would even flinch at 72m. If Barca sell Neymar they are getting 200m pounds for him. Going to take a bid of 120m pounds plus for FSG to consider selling Cout IMO.

Don't think anyone's blaming the big boys. It's the premier league having crazy money clubs around the world aren't selling players for cheap because they know they've all got the money to spend. Just look at some of the money Swansea spent last year

Whats his contract status like?

Going to hard to keep(and replace) him if Barca are chasing.

Not this window. Maybe next summer. The only chance he goes this window is if we could somehow sign Mbappe to replace him.

Pups was, which is exactly why the argument started. My whole point is that all PL clubs are responsible not just Chelsea/Utd/City.

A players only worth what the selling club is willing to accept really.

So whilst to most of us Neymar is 3x the player Coutinho is he isn't worth 3x the amount. If Barca are willing to take 180m for him that's because they think they can do more with that than the player himself. To Barca that's about right imo. They'd be fine selling him for that.

For Swansea with gylfi for instance they can't afford to let him go for less than 40m. There's no way he worth 1/5 of Neymar. But his level of importance to the club is probably on par. Similar with Coutinho and Liverpool and so on and so forth.

Well, because that's his buy out. :P

And they would have set his buyout at the minimum they'd be willing to accept.

It's not like they're a small club who can be bullied by agents into setting that clause low.

I'd hardly call 180m low. :D

Not always true, these top clubs will set players buyouts ridiculously high just to discourage anyone attempting to sign them or to create an aura that their players are untouchable.

Barca put buyouts in all their players contracts. ie: Thomas Vermaelen's contract with them has an 80m euro buyout, I think they would probably accept less :D
