Even Pups is speaking more sense than the other bloody spurs fans ;)
In this market for players you build teams around, you can't look at a players worth in isolation based on a players talent/skill level, or what they have or have not achieved, there are many other factors as I was trying to explain yesterday when I said Chelsea overpaid for Morata and I stand by that comment that they did based on the fact RM have sold him twice now and he was never a bonafide weekly starter at his 2 big clubs he played for, he was always the 3rd/4th choice striker.

Coutinho for example

Arguably Liverpool's best player (Mane could give him a run for his money soon though). Liverpool's top 4 fortunes in the PL are built around players like Coutinho, when you compare that to RM and Morata are RMs title chances built around players like him? Lololol, it's CR7, Ramos, Modric etc. RM will just promote a kid, or raid some minnow/midtable club for their crown jewel and they'll be back up to CR7 and Benzema as Morata's replacement.

Looking at Sigurdsson, he's not worth 50m, but it will take that to Swansea to sell because Sigurdsson staying at Swansea is crucial to their PL survival, as for all to see last season. The price of relegation is massive and it will take someone decent for Swansea to find just to replace him and Swansea isn't exactly the greatest drawcard. Finding an equal or better replacement is the challenge for Swansea if they do sell.

All these guys are contracted too so tough t***ies Everton, you're not getting close to 50m for Barkley :p

Monaco don't want to sell Mendy or Lemar because they're Mbappe's best friends there and as I've said before, they want to keep him. Keeping his mates around (who aren't bad players either) helps with that.
Yep for sure

They need to hold onto these kids for a couple of seasons so they can win Ligue 1 again with them and cement themselves as a bonafide CL team. The more they win, it improves their chances of:

A: either holding them long term or B: turning them into a destination club, so when the time comes for them to leave for Barca/RM/Bayern/Juve etc, they can replace with quality and every young prospect will want to play for them

You were talking about players value in the inflated market, not worth, not sure why you keep going on about that, what we think a player is worth means **** all nowadays.

You think Coutinho is worth 60-70 mil in this inflated market, same market that has priced Walker at 50 mil, I called bs on that is all. Not sure why you have to go on such lengths to overcomplicate it.

Pogba, 8 goals and 13 assists in the Serie A before moving to Man Utd? The same Serie A that has a 31 year old Dzeko scoring 30 league goals. Coutinho doesn't have the luxury of playing for the most dominant side in the league like Pogba did as well. I'm glad you jump off the Bernardo Silva train though, that wasn't a goer

Last I'll say about it though, obviously you have your own fixed opinion about Coutinho so no use going on about it

That first paragraph genuinely makes no sense. I was talking about his value in the market, inflated or otherwise, which is different to what a team may pay or what it would take to get him out of Liverpool.

FFS how are you not getting this? The market didn't price Walker at 50m. Apparently Bayern or Barca (can't quite remember) were interested as well but they didn't want to pay above 30m. Just because a team was prepared to pay that it doesn't make it his worth/value. That's just what City were prepared to pay and what we would accept. Once again, they are two different things.

Yeah. Extremely impressive numbers from someone who plays deeper midfield and shouldn't be judged on those figures alone. You genuinely have no clue if you think Coutinhos output thus far matches Pogbas Juve output in both Serie A and the CL. That is as hilariously biased as it gets. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that you are categorically wrong on this one. And you were the one that brought up Pogba. Not me. That is a completely different discussion to the one in which Silva was involved.

Haha good find. But I wasn't comparing their ability in that post. More the fact that they're 'highlight players,' which I've said once again now. That's not a completely unfair accusation.

I'd hardly call 180m low. :D
I agree. I think they're happy to accept 180m. I was talking about some low clauses that clubs get forced into putting in to getting players to their club. Barca and any of the top clubs never have that problem they set it at "unrealistic" levels, just so happens PSG can match that

I think you need to see a doctor, you are making this way more complicated than it needs to be to suit your own bias

Walker went for 50 mil, that's his value in the market, therefore that's his price in the market. It is that simple, why can't you get something so simple? The fact that you're trying to do some extremely far fetch and abstract differentiation about "what he's actually worth/what club would pay" to "what he's worth in the market" makes zero sense and shows you don't have much left in the kitbag

Pogba plays the most advanced in a midfield, he does his work up front, Coutinho has contributed more going forward than he has, hence the comparison. Rich of you to have a go at someone having no clue when you are the one that tried to argue Bernardo Silva is better than Coutinho when it's just categorically wrong

If Pogba's worth 90 mil and Walker 50 mil then Coutinho is worth more than your silly 60-70 mil valuation based on this inflated market, which is what YOU tried to measure him against in the first place. Even a few posters who don't like my club is agreeing with that, not sure why you have to keep longwinding and spinning against it

coutinho is worth 60-70m to Liverpool

But no other club in Europe would be stupid enough to pay that for him because they think he is worth 40-55m

Therefore he doesn't leave Liverpool

Why is everyone so caught up on thinking a players worth is a finite number?

DDG's worth to United and RM is going to be a lot more than it is to Bayern or Chelsea isn't it?

Fair enough

I was thinking RIP Kolorov to be honest

Reason of death, stabbed by Lazio ultras
i get the whole rivalry, but if lazio fans were content with a summer of kolarov and lucas then **** me they love to eat shit.

Doesn't matter anyhow, Coutinho isn't leaving, probably not even with a 100 mil + bid.

Do love people rubbishing players just because they play for Liverpool though, it was like that for Suarez and Xabi Alonso, too, overrated until they stopped wearing a red shirt

And now they're only overrated by Liverpool supporters.

72mil bid from Barca and we swiftly rejected and said he's not for sale. Yep he's worth 40mil.
Player value is irrelevant until they are sold, so at this stage there is no point even discussing how much Coutinho is worth because Liverpool have said he is not for sale "at any price". Walker wasn't worth 50m until City paid it, Pogba wasn't worth 90m until Utd paid it, what they were "worth" until then who really cares?

They weren't happy with replacing Biglia with Lucas at all.
would've presumed as much. he'll be one of the important milan pick ups. experience and a calm head.

on the coutinho thing, im surprised barca have put in a bid. don't think he would interest them too much.

Haha this is seriously laughable now. The market absolutely does not value Walker at 50m, City does, not the market, and we were happy to accept that. Seriously, people underpay or overpay for commodities all the time dependent on a whole host of factors. Objectively Walker is not a 50m, yet City have a need for FB's so valued him higher than the market rate as a result of that need. A team with sufficient product in that position would not offer the same amount. Value/worth =/= What a team is willing to offer/accept.

Haha I said (or well meant to say considering I missed a word in the OP) that he's arguably better. It's not like I vociferously argued that position. And just LOL at you thinking Coutinho is better than what Pogba was at Juve in Serie A and the CL.

Walker is not worth 50m. I've said on numerous times now that he's realistic value is ~25m. But I've covered that above.

And wait, really? You're bringing other posters into this? To add to that pissing context BKK and SM both said that he's not worth 60-70m. Although I'm not sure why that matters at all. And seriously you're arguing semantics now with the 'inflated' stuff. It was just a flippant remark, not sure why you're so hung up on that particular word.

Pretty sure they've earmarked him to replace Iniesta for quite a while. Coutinho moving to Barca's been inevitable for a while, if we didn't qualify for CL this season he would've certainly moved

Still think he moves there next season for a monster fee

personally i'd be surprised. i dont think liverpool have much to worry about. i think if neymar goes they instantly run to dortmund to try and get dembele, and next summer try again for verratti as the iniesta replacement.

whether any of that happens, who knows. in the past i would've backed barca to develop someone but alena to be iniesta's heir. but those days left with pep.
