Football's going mad. Nowhere near the calibre for a world record fee let alone world record by some margin.
Didn't hear anyone complaining bout the 90m manure paid for luk.
Court is a much more valuable player than luk so 100m min seems about right.

I'd take Lukaku's 20 goals a season over Coutinho's occasional worldy every day of the week, thanks.

Kike Marin (El Confidencial), usually fairly reliable for Barcelona news from memory, just had this to say:

View attachment 396848

Coutinho has met with Klopp and has told him that if the #Liverpool don't want to sell him to the #FCBarcelona is so happy at Anfield. LFC
Pretty much what I've thought all along. Everything points to him being very happy at Liverpool. He's a ripping lad too and cant see him kicking up a fuss. If we say not to selling, I'm sure he will be happy as larry to stay on and do well with us.

Because comparing an out and out CF with a midfielder based on goals is a perfectly rational thing to do.

No one apart from a single pool supporter wants to make the comparison.

Maybe you can help. By what metric is Coutinho more valuable than Lukaku?

I have certain posters on ignore, so didn't see the preceding comment.

Even if you want to look purely at scoring involvements, which as a midfielder I think significantly underplays Coutinho's overall involvement in the game compared to Lukaku whose sole responsibility as a CF is to get in the area and put the ball in the back of the net, last season in the league:

Lukaku scored a goal every 176 minutes. He had a direct scoring involvement (goal/assist) every 127 minutes. 25 goals/assists in 37 games (36 starts, 1 as sub).

Coutinho scored a goal every 172 minutes. He had a direct scoring involvement (goal/assist) every 112 minutes. 20 goals/assists in 31 games (28 starts, 3 as sub).

I could quote metrics which favour deeper lying players like key passes, final third completed passes, chances created, dribbles, even MOTM awards - all of which Coutinho has a distinct advantage in, but I think I've done enough damage to the credibility of this argument for one day.

As I said, they play completely different roles so comparing them purely based on goals is foolish, but even humouring this argument and playing the game on Lukaku's home turf, using the 1 thing that as a CF he is supposed to have a clear advantage over Coutinho for, he doesn't have an advantage.

Thought we dropped out of the race for Foyth. After seeing Wimmer in pre season we definitely need another CB or two

More than happy for the rest of the community to stick with their mocking of LFC and their supporters at any cost, just like we're more than happy you undervalue Cout. Happy to keep him :)

I'm sure if/when he eventually moves to another club all the cool kids will heckle us again even though he's such a poor player :p

Even if we accept the fallacy that you can extrapolate Coutniho's stats to more games/minutes and the ratio remains the same, your stats are wrong. Lukaku scored 25 goals and was credited with 6 assists.

I would be more careful about mentioning credibility if I were you. Back to the drawing board please.

One of the more interesting strawmans I've read.

I regret bringing it up. Somehow a basic comment on football going mad if Coutinho is valued at £134m becomes a comparison between he and Lukaku, but this is what happens when faith intervenes...

You're too anti LFC like a lot of people on here, which clouds your judgement.

Inters manager has said that United haven't been in contact for a while and he himself would strongly oppose the sale of Perisic.

Paying around $3.50 on Sportsbet to stay.

What are Matic to United odds like?
