Walker for £50m could be a turning point in the market. Usually when Levy sells a player there's a transfer saga, arm twisting and a deal done late in the window. In the case of Walker it really looks like Levy has demanded 50m and City have paid it no questions asked. It all happened pretty quickly after the very public Alves snubbing.

£17m for Janssen was probably around the expected price at the time. In retrospect it's way overpriced though. Sissoko I will never understand. Even at the time it was a bizarre deal and one that has only got worse. Probably the most pointless transfer I've ever witnessed at Spurs.

In the long run, any person that pays more for a player than what they think he is worth just because "yeah, but they did it first" is an idiot.

they had already rejected bids before we bought walker.

the majority of players brought into the premier league will likely be overpriced, usually based on certain biased reasons. you cannot say one transfer being expensive lead to any changes. if so, why did it take so long for someone to cost more than ronaldo?

there are less quality full backs about than any other position in football. full backs are a vital part as to how modern football works. if you manage to negate an oppositions full backs these days you really give yourself a leg up. clubs who have very good full backs know this. scarcity drives up the price, mixed with an embarrassment of riches. but, if you can pay to bring in some of the best, why not? cos people on the internet think it's overpriced?

Over the 5 years of Walkers contract we'll probably earn over a £1billion in broadcasting income.
