Offering Leipzig €70m is like offering the arabs more oil

I query how true that claim is.

Who are they meaningfully being linked to this summer? An 18 year old French striker called Yann Karamoh is the only player they've been linked to so far (for around €10m). Last summer 3 of their 6 signings came (effectively for free) from their sister club RB Salzburg, and their most expensive purchase was Timo Werner at €10m.

Not that they haven't picked up some excellent players, but they don't sound like the sort of signings a club that 'doesn't need money' would be limiting themselves to. Sounds like the sort of purchases a shrewd business would make.

Not sure what their other top players are on but Keita (arguably their best) is apparently on €30k/week.

Red Bull are a big business but they're a business at the end of the day. He has a release clause of ~€50m which activates next summer, at which point he will leave, and like most top Bundesliga players there's a strong chance they will probably end up losing him to rivals Bayern Munich. If someone makes them an offer sufficiently above that release clause, I'd be surprised if they didn't sell him this summer.

If Liverpool offer 70m pounds then he'll be a Liverpool player, they'll even throw in the wings.

Leipzig can easily just suddenly ask for 90 mil when we meet the 70 mil. Don't see how they'll play ball, they'll be okay with losing him for his release clause next season. The only bad thing would be if Bayern's the one that ends up activating it

More than one club can activate it - he’s more than welcome to talk to multiple clubs

Leipzig can’t afford to sell him in a sporting sense - they’ve got ucl this year and depth becomes imperative for a team that up until last year only played 1-2 extra games a season.

Leipzig is a good place to be in a footballing sense at the moment, and a good city to live in. There’s no reason that If they make it to the round of 16 (Yee, a big ask) in ucl, he won’t hang around with Werner and the other young crew

So can many of the Dortmund players, Bayern is skilled at pulling the best players in the Bundesliga to them

Been said many times but Keita probably wouldn't happen but we have to have a crack this summer while we can

Only one went to Bayern via release clause.

Interestingly enough, the contract accepted by said player before the club was informed of the clause being activated.

Clubs only bid when they know the player has agreed to join them, that's just how it works. Otherwise bidding for a player who ended up rejecting you would be a mega waste of time

Willian ended up going to Chelsea because they came in late with a bigger offer, they weren't rejected after Spurs bidded, he actually wanted to go to them until Chelsea came in

Neither of those players directly rejected the original offer though. Both were happy to take those deals but got late deals that they felt were better financially and in a football sense.

Nearly all clubs bid knowing they're on good terms with the agent and player already.
