All the talent in the world just doesn't produce it often enough and has a questionable temperament and work ethic.
Might be the kick up the backside he needs
Then it sounds like a risk worth taking for a team like Southampton. 20m is really nothing for a player that could end up paying massive dividends down the line.

I'm used to us losing our best players after the club have said they aren't for sale so wouldn't be surprised if he did go but right now I actually think he'll stay unless he really does kick up a fuss.
Not sure what Cout is like as a character, but some of the things I've read have reported that he has asked to leave. Is he the type to kick up a fuss if he's not allowed to?

Wonder if it'd be like a Saphir Taider all over again?

Southampton have regularly brought in Serie A players since they were promoted, I'm not sure if it's worked for them.

According to @AgenciaNews, Barcelona have reached an agreement to sign Coutinho for €95m + bonuses.

UPDATE: Coutinho to Barça is a done deal. More to follow & official announcement soon. [@RadioFCB]

BREAKING: Philipe Coutinho is just hours away from being announced as a new Barcelona player. (beIN Sports)

Skysports & L'equipe are both reporting Dembele to Barca for €100m Euros is close. I doubt Barca are buying both!

Osvaldo was a disaster.

All the news coming out of Liverpool is that he respects Liverpool's decision that he's not for sale and would never publicly push for a move. Apparently he feels indebted to the club for turning his career around. But as always with this sort of stuff things can change by the day.

If he was to leave it wouldn't be until close to the end of the window anyway. FSG would get pelters for selling him regardless, but to accept a fee now would be even worse PR because it would make it look like they didn't even try and keep him. Which is why I think these new reports are complete bogus.

Just trying to think of their Italians/Italian system buys

Ramirez: crap
Osvaldo: crap
Taider: lol
Pelle: probably the best value so far
Gabbiadini: I like his potential, but just inconsistent. Needs to demand a role and stay in it, be it as a number 9 or a right forward/winger

I think their hit rate is better out of the Championship, SPL, Eredivisie etc

Even if Cout was to join Barca eventually it makes sense to sell him after another great season in the PL & CL and Russia 2018. His value is only going to skyrocket.
Yeah definitely

We've seen what long campaigns can do to players who have to front up the next season off virtually no rest because they're playing for their country in June, having gone straight to their national training camp in May straight after the season, then are expected to do preseason tours with their clubs in July

We were hit hard early on last season in this regard with Kane and Alderweireld getting injured and a number of other players looking lethargic and not coming good until November/December.

Definitely if you're going to sell, get one more year out of him, then he's Barca's problem.

Definitely a bargain if he can produce what he is capable off. Does some amazing stuff followed by the downright lazy stuff. If the gaffer can find the right switch he will be well worth it

It hasnt happened under Klopp though. FSG adore him. If Klopp wants him to stay, I think he stays.
