We'll sign a replacement first before selling. Can't risk not signing a replacement with Lallana out for 2 months. So we should be better off in that regard.

Problem with that is that at some stage he's going to say "if you value me at £150m why are you paying me like a £16m player".

I do think both sides abuse trust in these situations.

if he wants to get paid like a 150m player, then he needs to a) act like one and b) ask for a new contract with a higher wage.

having said that, maybe in light of this transfer window, he actually is acting like one.

Couple of reports from Brazillian sources saying Coutinho is not for sale at any price this transfer window.

Not sure I am onboard with that. We'd be silly to turn down say £170m from Barca.

Our transfer record is about to be broken for a backup 21 year old CB. No reason why we wouldn't go to 40m+ for someone of that calibre.

By the sounds of it our targets are CB (Davinson Sanchez or Veltman), RB (Cancelo), CM (Barkley or Pape Diop), W/ST (Martial or someone we haven't been linked with yet). We should at least get 3 of those sorted and a 3rd GK which I'm guessing is already agreed with Gazzianga but they dont want that to be announced as our 1st signing

Everything Ive read suggests our first choice at WF/St was Keita Balde and we were reasonably confident but he was holding out for Juve and snubbed us when they confirmed their interest.
