Still a bit short in defence if Kompany goes missing, or any fullbacks get injured/suspended. And while I think we could manage, only really have two goalscorers in the squad. But looking a much stronger, and more balanced squad than we have since Mancini IMO.

He never could move. One of the smartest midfielders in the league, great experience and great clubman. Doubt he cost anything in transfer fee.

Only leaves Mustafi as a player in his prime. VvD seems like a good player to go after. They'll gain more using the AOC money on him than losing Ox will weaken them.

I don't see how we get VVD the longer it drags on, it is in Liverpool's interest to offer big and get him early. The closer to deadline day this gets, the easier Soton can just reject offers or sell to others

Never made sense for me to have the winter window open after the season started anyway, make sure all the European windows are closed before their seasons start

Wasnt it originally changed so that i stead of buying someone to replace an injured player, clubs would give a kid a chance.

I don't think thats really worked if that was the reason.

FSG slammed Edwards for it back in June. Should never have been leaked that he was joining us until a fee with Soton was agreed.
