I just read that Morata's wife is now following United on Instagram. I refuse to look further into this and will now state that the deal is done.

But, is she hot? That right there is a deal breaker.

Interesting reading.

http://www.football365.com/news/the-transfer-record-progression-of-every-premier-league-club

This feature reveals the last five times every Premier League club has broken their transfer record, on whom and for how much. Enjoy…
Really interesting thing for me is that most (if not all) of the clubs outside the top 4-6 have broken their record repeatedly in the last 1-2 years, while the longest lasting ones (Newcastle aside) are from those top clubs. PL money increase is definitely closing the gap between the top and the rest.

Buybacks are a grey area generally anyway.
Not really. If there's a contract between clubs with set terms then they're pretty straightforward. Not that the player in question has to agree to personal terms, that is, but the deal between the clubs is generally uncomplicated.

It is unenforceable if a club decides against abiding by it.

Yikes that is a small fee.
Mail saying theres another €8m in bonuses plus a 15% sell in fee and a handshake buyback like we had with Benfica for Matic.

Apparently Ake will be £20m and will include a buyback.

Reports that LFC have made a £25m offer for Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The Daily Fail reporting we did insert buy back clauses in the Traore and Ake transfers.

Liverpool being quoted astronomical fees for their targets - 70M for VVD, 70M for Keita, 25M for AOC.

Don't mind it. Wijnaldum signing was canned by a few people but you could see why Klopp liked him. He had attributes that clearly fit the style of play Klopp was trying to implement. I'd put Oxlade-Chamberlain in the same basket.

I've given up on interpreting transfer fees. There's been such a huge and rapid increase in money in English football in the last few years that I don't think anyone really knows what is and isn't good value.

Think with Ox is that he is leaving Arsenal because he wants to play every game, and he wants to play in central midfield. Is he goes to Liverpool it's because you have offered him that, which I don't think he is good enough to do for a top 6/UCL club.

I wanted Wijnaldum. Wijnaldum had a far more proven record than Ox

Could be that, could also be a number of other different factors at play in that decision including but not limited to money, his relationship with his current manager, belief that his attributes are more likely to be appreciated at another club, Champions League football etc.

As for guaranteed starter at CM, there were similar things said about Milner when he came from City to Liverpool, but the fact is that no player will be guaranteed they will start games in a specific position before they've even touched a ball, at any club. However, if he comes in, and he can outperform Coutinho, Lallana, Wijnaldum or whichever other centre midfielders we sign this window, then good luck to him, I'm happy for him to be in the nominal 'starting XI' at CM on merit over those players. I think regardless of whether he is a starter or not, he'd get plenty of opportunities given the amount of additional games we're going to be juggling next season, and (as with Milner) his capacity to cover a number of different positions.
