Is Rooney going to turn out a great purchase for Everton at those wages, and be a good replacement for Barkley/Lukaku? Probably not.

But should we recognise the enormous contribution he's had to United's success over the past decade and a half, and respect the player he once was? Also probably not.

**** off Shrek.

How many other United club legends have been sold or retired where the majority of fans are happy to see the back of him, like Wayne Rooney? David Beckham? That same summer we targeted Ronaldinho who we almost signed and then hit on the Ronaldo jackpot. Beckham might be the only such player who, like Wayne Rooney, was someone that needed to move on and the fans weren't very cut up about Beckham being sold and in the case of Rooney, it's been overwhelming joy that he's gone.

All our other club legends are thought of fondly and no one wanted to see them retire or sold at the end (Roy Keane was sold and that was a shock but those were different circumstances. Highly regarded in footballing ability at the end).

Yeah he's really good, huge potential. Would slot in very nicely on your right wing back positon.

Lovely touch, great shooting, lightning fast.

This, :handok:.

I just don't think people can realise it. We also signed Eto'o on a similar deal, he decided to piss off after six months but he was able to make a real impact in the time he was here.

Rooney isn't the player he once was, we all know that so I don't know why it constantly needs to be said. I still firmly believe he can make an impact, his experience, leadership and ability to step up at big moments may not make a highlight package look any better but are all such valuable assets in his game, which shouldn't be overlooked.

Whilst Everton supporters may have goals of being on par with the top six and spending just as much/more money as them, we still just don't have the pulling power to bring in the real big names. We're not going to win the league with the signings we're makin. Or sig the same level of players as the six teams above us are trying to. We need to create a platform to become a Champions League side and then use that to enhance the reptation of the club so all of us stars want to say and the club can compete in transfers of those big names with everyone else in the squad. It takes a lot of progression but I feel we're taking all the right steps foward. I've never been more excited to support Everton.
But Rooney is seriously cooked. I think he will offer next to nothing.

Oh and I think Everton are stupid for getting Rooney back but I do love that 'Once a blue...' video.
Once a blue is hilarious though.

I mean I assume that means, once a blue, always a blue. So then why didnt Rooney play his entire career for Everton.

He jumped ship as early as he possibly could to the best team in England. Then decided return once he is absolutely cooked and can offer very little.

I'd be annoyed if I were a toffee nosed campaigner.

You got laugh that Wayne Rooney claimed he had "lots of offers" and then got sold to Everton. I guess he had to learn a second language to go to Spain to play for Barcelona when he isn't yet done learning his first language.

Yuck

Surely someone better is available at similar money?

Hes a Conte favourite. I'd rather Belotti but wont be too upset with Morata. Anyone after missing Rom is going to be a let down though.

Maybe Moussa Dembele will interest us again.

What dod he say?
Alli was offered by a Chelsea scout as potential academy buy. Mou said no as he thought he had a superior player in RLC already. So far all he's done is warm a bench or be loaned.

Not saying he's rubbish but he probably needs this loan so he can show what he's capable of at the highest level fulltime.

Mou doesnt/didnt buy or even scout the academy kids. I doubt that story is true.

RLC needs a good loan though.

Just probably? Heheh :D

Position or not, you cant take Messi and Ronaldo out of the equation because you dont consider them strikers. Dont care where they play, when they regularly score 60 a season, they are bloody strikers for me.
Translation: I don't care for the facts or the parameters of the discussion as it discredits my view.

Maybe, wasn't in the room obviously but I remember reading about it a little while after. Maybe the mou was mayo to sensationalise. Cbf finding where I read it as it's not that important in the scheme of things. Lol Stevie G, now there's a guy who ****ed up.
