Weird signing, wont even displace Milner. But I guess we do need a backup as we are shopping Moreno. I just wish we would go after an actual first team LB.
Milner still the number 1 #ambition right there.
A midfielder as the starting LB still. Wowsers.
He's not really a replacement for Auba either
If he was good enough for Arsenal then they wouldn't have played Sanchez up top ahead of him or bought Lacazette. Not good enough for a club like Dortmund and pretty sizeable downgrade on PEA.

Well yeah. I more meant that he doesn't play the same way as Auba anyway

Not many clubs play like Arse either. All that possession to try and walk the ball into the net.

Fair bit of striker musical chairs this window. Usually leads to someone getting the short straw somewhere.

Is it him pushing for the move or the club wanting to cash in?

i actually feel like its the media pushing for the move to have something to write about, as far fetched as that might seem to some. he's never stated that he wants to leave, and the club don't need to sell him (contract till 2020), plus it would be disingenuous to let a 25+ scorer go with no like for like replacement.

there's more pressing outgoings for us to free up the list (Rode/Durm/Ginter (who's already been done)) for example.

Tell me how I'm wrong though. You're saying he doesn't rely on his pace or he doesn't score tap ins?

Video of his 31 goals is attached. I watched the video and noted this breakdown

Tap-in 11
(Of which his actual elite positioning, not luck contributed 1st 2nd 21st 22nd 28th)

Header 5

Shot
13
3rd, 10th, 11th, 14th, 15th, 16th, 22nd, 23rd, 25th, 26th, 27th, 29th 30th (best goal)

Penalties 1 2

So he actually scored more goals via shots, and just over 1/3 via tap ins. Still a fair few tap ins but i'd say that only half of those were luck. Interesting to note the lack of pens - mainly cos refs hate us ;)

Doesn't really counteract what I said though. You've just confirmed he scores heaps of tap ins and from this video he looks like he uses his pace well.

But again I don't watch the Bundesliga so my opinion hardly holds any credibility. It's just a couple of observations I've made from the limited footage I've seen of him.

Aubameyang is a bit overrated. Scores heaps of tap ins and once his pace goes he's rooted.

You said he was overrated. He scored more goals than the best striker in the world in the same league.

You said he scored heaps from tap ins and without pace he is rooted. He scored 18 out of 31 from shots or headers, which comes down to positioning and skill.

Sure, he's more of a poacher and not a true 9. But overrated? Give me a break. He's been consistently building over the last few years. It's not his fault that Dortmund has one of the highest xG ratings in football - he's moulded himself exceptionally around how the team plays (and vice versa).

I have plenty of faith in Conte, but i dont think he handled Costas exit and replacement as well as he could have. Its a fair **** up atm.

To be fair, if you have the chance to shit talk Costa with a text, you'd do it. He's a campaigner

Hes also a great striker and a huge reason why we've won 2 of the last 3 titles. Its a bit dumb to piss him off before having a replacement lined up.

Costa probably pissed Conte off first as he always does with everyone

Chelsea fans wanted Costa gone before Conte arrived, too, so it doesn't really matter. Chelsea will buy someone, they have the cash. They got Luiz at the very end last season, Conte didn't really want him and it turned out fine
