Yeah those 2 PL titles this decade compared to Liverpool's 0 along with an appearance in the UCL semis surely suggest a massive culture problem.
The culture of spend, spend, spend is not a particularly admirable one. I think that's the point

Dude look how much they've spent.
They should really be winning everything ever year.

I don't get pep either, wasn't he brought in to make the club into a mini barca?
And apparently city have one of the best youth teams around, giving the kids a go can only be good for club culture.
Seems to me pep will leave soon and couldn't give a a shite about making citeh a powerhouse club.

Not sure I suggested they do. Just thought that with the amount you're throwing around, investing in youth as your back up instead of spending such ridiculous fees would make more sense. The club has the money, but it does have a flow on effect to the game in general. Things are getting crazy.
and in an ideal world every club puts out 11 home grown youngsters from their local area.

things have been crazy for quite a long time. and they're only going to get crazier. tv deals, prize money, sponsorships. if they weren't so high as well then there would be less to spend anyways.

And yet, the biggest culprits of the spend, spend, spend motto have won 3 UCL titles in the last 4 years.

He brought in players at Barca because he knew them well enough but even then he spent a shit load on players who didn't work out and only brought in Kimmich at Bayern who they bought from Stuttgart/Leipzig. Guys like Mitch Weiser and Sinan Kurt were both talented but never got anywhere under him. His track record post-Barca isn't exactly a good barometer for his trust in youth.

So you are comparing City to RM? City can barely fill their ground. Madrid may have some serious questions about the way they operate but they are a club who have been a powerhouse since the 1950's. City's money literally arrived overnight. Can't make that comparison

You questioned clubs who spend, spend and spend. RM and City both spend. And yes RM are a powerhouse but they only did well in the 50's because of their connections to Franco who got them Di Stefano and Puskas. Then once those connections dried up they didn't win a thing in Europe again until they started the Galacticos philosophy under Perez. History says that without dictators or big spending RM weren't successful.

The 1 CL to 0 City CL titles this century suggests otherwise.

GK: Ederson (£35m) / Bravo (£17m)
RB: Walker (£50m) / Danilo (£26.5m)
LB: Mendy (£51m)
CB: Stones (£50m)/Otamendi (£28.5m)/Mangala (£42m)

£300m on the defence, you'd want it to end up the stiffest in the league with that outlay.
thats a whole lot of average

Surely City are in danger of breaching FFP? What's their wage bill going to be like

  • rags saying if veratti doesnt get a move to barca he is open to joining united instead
  • the daily star (lol) saying united to hijack inters bid for arturo vidal
  • real madrid are keeping an eye on marcus rashford if they miss out on mbappe according to diario gol (sounds like diarrhoea)
  • wolfsburg want martial on a permanent deal after getting told there will be no loan deal
  • bayern want 40m for renato sanches
  • the mirror saying psg want martial and cash for veratti
  • mahrez has turned down a move to roma because he wants to join arsenal
  • tottenham want Filip Benkovic who is valued at over 13.5m

Can't see us selling Dier. We need him when we play three at the back or as DM cover for Wanyama.

Rather admirable how they remain competitive with their rigidly adhered to philosophy and values.

And to think they're the 3rd most successful club in Spain whilst having made a European final this decade and smashed Barcelona 4-0 in a cup final and are one of the 3 Spanish sides in La Liga to have never been relegated.

"but but you can't do anything without spending" lol **** off

thats a whole lot of average

Ederson is alright even for 35 million but after him it makes us spending big bucks on Steven Fletcher and Fabio Borini look like bargains.

This is why we love Harry. Makes me proud to have this guy playing for us. A proper player at a proper club
