Not much a fan of him commenting on other EPL clubs.

Seems to be something thats crept into the game in the past four or five years. Used to be a real no no, but people don't to have much of a problem sticking the beak in nowadays.

Conte is taking the piss somewhat with those comments. Would certainly be a"tragedy" if we lost in the 1st round of the CL again with this talented group of players. Would also be hugely disappointing not to qualify for CL football. I have a problem with him using the word tragedy though. Tragedy is what happened in the Grenfell tower or at the concert in Manchester or little Bradley Lowry. His perspective is off.

Bottom line is though, when you are operating on a far smaller budget than your rivals, then the weight of expectation is lesser

I guess it was a response to Levy. Probably feels it was directed at Chelsea (I've not really seen Levy's comments in detail so don't know if it was or not).

I don't think anyone has an issue with their club being successful. But blindly sticking your hand out for cash irregardless of where it comes from is a bit whorish. When our owners actually tried to pretend to be good owners and spent on the team plenty still didn't like them because of their background.

And what if those owners got you into Europe? Or won the FA Cup? Or a league cup? Or any trophy for that matter?

Except, in this insane world, it doesn't. In this world spending the GDP of entire nations on transfers and wages is somehow the benchmark. Winning stuff because you've spent more than everyone else does not make Pep Guardiola a great manager. This window has just made him look an utter fraud - like United's spending has made Mou a fraud. If these guys can't manage a team without buying it outright then they ain't no Fergie - and should be treated with contempt. BY THEIR OWN SUPPORTERS.

Why do people keep bringing this up as if Fergie took over a small time club and took them to the top on a shoestring budget? Fergie outspent everyone in his time in charge of Manchester United, he also was lucky enough to run into that bunch that came through the youth ranks at the same time. He's a great manager, absolutely no question, but let's not forget reality.

Still dont get this. Not just with Barca and Coutinho, but it's often reported that the club and player have agreed terms, not they just need to work it out with the selling club to get the sale price.

But isnt that illegal and tapping up. Dont you have to have a bid accepted before you can speak to the player and agree on personal terms.

That's how it works on FM.

League wise definitely not.

Snaring a few trophies is nice but the league is what it's about for me.
