So they are trying to put Neymar's transfer fee outside FFP by accounting for it as a payment by Qatar to promote the WC for Qatar. Not as a transfer fee for a player from Barcelona.

Meanwhile the very same employer is guilty of slavery and forcing foreign workers to live in squalid conditions while paying them a pittance.

I find spending 330m Euros on Neymar an absolutely disgusting act by a country who has no morals whatsover. If this escapes FFP it is an absolute joke and makes the FFP cheating by City look insignificant in comparison.

UEFA officials have been gorging themselves on Qatari money for a decade, and will continue to do so for another decade, nothing is going to happen. They're even ignoring a complaint from Barcelona, which is pretty huge historically.
Whats the basis of Barca's complaint?

It really is sad how the French have whored themselves out to Qatar all in the name of cheap gas. My sister in law's father works over there as a consulting engineer and cannot believe how the locals treat foreigners. Slave trade is a relic of ancient history and should not be acceptable in modern day society.

I doubt UEFA or the French Tax authorities would allow that deal.

French tax authority will bend over backwards to help the Qataris. Read into all the natural gas contracts signed before the 2022 WC bid.

Can UEFA stop Qatar paying Neymar €330m to promote the WC? And there's nothing stopping a player paying their own buyout clause.

Any transaction between an owner of a football club and one of that clubs players would be considered related, and have to be reported in FFP returns.

French Tax authorities would absolutely push for a share of that sort of money earned by a resident.

The French Tax authorities will get their cut of his PSG wages and sign on bonus, I doubt they have any claim to a contract signed between Neymar and Qatar, in Qatar, for services to Qatar.

Did BBC say if Barca can't sign Coutinho they'd sign Ozil?

All the reason not to sell, make them weaken Arsenal

EDIT: it's in their gossip section so **** it, they should state in their tweets properly if they're just gossip
I think a big part of barca wanting coutinho is because he is brazilian and mates with neymar to try keep him happy, same reason why no one could work out why barca were enquiring about paulinho or whoever it was

Ah yes but do you really think the actual transaction will be between Oryx sports investments and Neymar? The Qataris could easily pay him under another umbrella company of their sovereign wealth fund (worth $256 billion!!)

On paper it would then be legit. Of course every man and his dog would know it's a sham but will UEFA act?

I don't believe clubs buy players just because they are friends with one of their star players. In 3 years time Neymar will be the best player in the world once CR7/Messi have finished up at Barca. If that's not enough and £11m pounds annual wage then nothing is!!

Unless there's a specific agreement between countries, money earned by a resident in another country is still taxable.

I think the French are pretty strict on this, do they collect tax on Monaco players wages now?

They might struggle in that case. I suspect for something so blatant they'd change their rules. And as we all know, UEFA have no problem changing rules and applying them retrospectively.

When he earns that 300m isn't he still technically a Spanish resident though? It's only after he pays his own buyout clause and then moves to France that he would be eligible to be taxed by French authorities, right?

Really Barcas threat or even La ligas threat of a report is without substance.
The problem, if this happened and it led to a breach of FFP it wouldn't apply until the 17/18 financial year, which UEFA won't even look at until 2019.

So they're not going to punish PSG now when they don't have a clue what state their finances will be in two years time.

To avoid any controversy maybe if Neymar really wants to leave Barca they should accept a lower fee? Forcing him to stay against his will doesn't feel right.

Depends on the structure of the deal I guess. But Spanish tax authorities would be even keener to take a slice than the French.

I can't remember the deal with buyouts in Spain. A transfer is subject to tax and a buyout isn't. Or the other way around. Been a problem with a few transfers in the past.

It definitely appears they are trying to play funny buggers in order to get this deal over the line with FFP.

Can see their next move being they give Neymar a 15 year contract so the £197m fee ends up being £13m a season in amortisation. Of course Neymar won't play for another 15 years, he moves on for an agreed amount after 5-6 years.

One of the many big flaws in FFP.

i personally hate how much transfer fees have gone up and how big player wages are these days. so many people live in poverty and dont have basic human rights and instead of using said money to improve shit its pissed away for some bloke to kick a ball around.

and yes i feel the same way about my club spending hundreds of millions as well

It would not be used on that anyway. The players are more likely to put back into poor communities than club owners.

The difference is PSG's owners are involved in the slave trade paying foreign workers a pittance, giving them no rights and forcing them to live in squalid conditions. At least your owners aren't guilty of that sort of behaviour.
