So they agree a contract for the next window but he stays at Arsenal until his contract runs out at the end of the season. Not exactly the same as "signing him for free in January" which implies getting the player in the January window. Doesn't really change anything imo, if he wants to leave at the end of the season he is going to, whether he agrees that in January or next July/August is incidental.

Which is why I said 'technically', maybe a club will jump in earlier than the rest to secure his signature, maybe a club pre-signs him and try to then negotiate a fee with Arsenal to release him early.

Well it doesn't give Arsenal any chance of re-signing him and also puts pressure on English clubs to try and sign him this window.
It just gives us 6 months to re-sign him rather than 12. If we wants to go he will go, if he wants to stay he will stay, I don't think that extra 6 months of time will have a big influence on the outcome.

Zero chance of that happening, if we were willing to release him early we would sell him now and take the money on offer.

seeing as neymar's is now the currency of choice, im going to need every transfer converted into neymar's
Base currency is actually freddo frogs mate.

If nothing else, this sordid Neymar saga has reminded us that isn't true, much as we'd like to pretend otherwise.

He doesn't have a buyout, he's happy where he is and the club doesn't want to sell him. No need to pretend with Eden.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not commenting that specifically of Eden, or any other specific player.

I'm commenting on the fact that PSG, Qatar and the Neymar have reminded us once again that one of the dirty secrets humanity likes to tell itself isn't true, actually is: everything has a price. It's just a matter of whether that price is attainable or not.

Every player has a price mate. Would be interesing to see what would have happened if PSG offered Roman 200m for Hazard & $1.3 million weekly wages.

I guess thats where a buyout comes in and why clubs are stupid to include them.

We are seeing with Liverpool and Cout that not every player has a price,

We'd sell Coutinho if anyone came in with an offer of 150m +.

We don't need the money so it wouldn't make a difference what they offered.

Emiliano Martinez to Getafe on season-long loan, from Arsenal.
