It's very easy to sit back and take pot shots but perhaps discussing the point might be a better plan.

No I'm not.

I'm saying they are don't realise that a natural consequence of clubs having significantly more money to spend is that they will normally spend it.

That doesnt mean that it is unsustainable or they are not living within their resources.

It's not like the bulk of the money is removed from the football economy - Barca are trousering a heap, and will likely spread that out to a few other clubs.

Those clubs will spend, and if they're run by idiots and they spend too much then they go under, but hasn't that always been the case?

Are PSG running at massive losses every year? At some point surely the financial losses every year has to stop. It may not happen next year or in the next 10 but at some point football clubs running at £100m+ losses will catch up with itself.

Neither Wenger or Levy seems to understand that clubs can now spend huge money because they earn huge money.

Football is living within it's resources much more than it used to do. It's just that nowadays the resources are so high.

Just look at TV money. £51m a year between 1992 and 1997. £2.7b a year now. What was it in 1979 when Trevor Francis moved? Inflation is going to happen.

I think Wenger actually made that point when comparing it to 1m being a crazy fee back in the day.

How can they talk about FFP and affordability when the financial year this summers spending applies to is only a few months old.

Yeah obviously the oil runs out at some point. When Texas lost control of oil prices to OPEC their major cities moved to services and technology for their economy. A lot of these Gulf state cities are looking at what Houston etc. did and are following this model

Qatar are very interested in having a long term commitment to football ala China. They're also the only ME nation aside from the UAE to diversify their economy so it's not solely predicated on oil exportation.

In short, PSG will always be backed by money and will never have financial implications.

If you got told the basics of FFP without looking into it, you would think Neymar going to PSG for 222 million euros would never happen under that system. Clubs can still break into the top level but it's virtually impossible to do it in England now.
