we dont have anyone on 250k a week.

Do you think City can't afford Sanchez from a fee and/or wage perspective? I'd hazard a guess that City could easily afford and happily spend £60m and £300k wages on him, and if that was on the table from a non-EPL club (a good few clubs could afford this - PSG definitely, Bayern, Juve and/or Milan another couple potentially, maybe slightly lower wages but more than he's on currently) we would take it IMO.

Think it's obvious that Wenger's made his mind up (for now...) and that's the sticking point.

probably. but i do think for once wenger has put his foot down. wouldnt be too shocked if the board was tempted by the money though, but it probably wont happen.

Any reason why Barca aren't in for Sanchez? Assume Arsenal would sell to them for £50-60m in a heartbeat. Obviously he's played there before but surely is a very good shot term Neymar replacement.

Only issue is that Barca may need to replace all 3 forwards around 2020-2021.

Alexis did not get on well with Messi if I am remembering correctly.

Cooldude beat me to it...

As for Coutinho. Pretty sure it's as you were. Cout would obvs welcome the move but he has a 5 year deal with us and is happy here and feels like he owes the club.

IMO def not moving this summer.

so van djik refuses to play, gets fined, is appealing the 2 weeks wages fine and only now submits a transfer request days before the season starts?

top fella virgil

That's right. Alexis played in Messi's position while he was injured and tore it up. By the end of the season he had a better goals per ratio and people were saying Messi should play deeper or wide like what Pep was trying to make him do and it pissed off Messi so he had to leave.

Not a fan of this part of the game, we've been on the receiving end a few times ourselves, but unfortunately it's become almost essential to be an absolute prat in these circumstances. Would Southampton agree to sell him if he didn't force their hand and pull this crap? Would we have sold Sterling?

I'm sure club's probably prefer this on some level too, allows them to paint the player as the villain, and helps placate the fans if/when they do agree to sell.

Maybe shouldn't have signed such a big deal with soton then.
Yep, pisses me off when players happily sign huge deals without any buyouts, then have a breakout season and think they are too good for their team and want to move on. Think he will leave but hope Southampton push it to deadline day and get the best possible deal for themselves, don't let the player dictate terms when he is contracted to you for another 5 years.
