I think it's a fair point, although it's no great secret that the likes of Spurs and Liverpool won't really help out too much if you want a move.

Knowing that, and still signing a long term contract he can't really complain too much.

As for the strike threats, in 99% of the times they're reported it's overblown or made up. Why threaten to strike and leave yourself open to fines and withheld wages when you can just "not be in the right state of mind" or "have a sore back" and achieve the same thing.

Come September 1 I doubt there would be many that would carry through with a threat to strike anyway.

Something along the lines of 'Whos he? I've never ever heard of him. Spurs are wasting money on these guys when they should be catching up to the others.'
