That's kinda sad for the fans, isn't it, the club is acknowledging they won't challenge for the title.

Personally I'd be very fine if we don't buy Ox
Certainly is, the fans have long come to the realisation that top 4 is the clubs only true ambition which all stems from the owner.

Personally I want to sell him for the most possible amount of money, I don't think he makes the difference between any club getting top 4 or not.

Liverpool spending Barca's money well it seems. Keita, Salah and VVD >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Coutinho.

Have you made an offer that's matched Chelsea's? All I've heard is that Liverpool is Ox's preferred destination but you only offered 25 while Chelsea went 35. That's the big factor it seems.
Coutinho will be good for us coming of the bench as an impact player.

What exactly is the go with the Keita deal? Have we bought him and loaned him back for one season?

A fee of £51m is being talked about. If true an absolute bargain - even if we have to wait another 12 months.

Means you have purchased him next season when his buyout comes into effect, you've basically paid extra to be first in line.

Is there anything stopping another club hitting the clause and then offering more than Liverpool?

And if that's the case, why would he be doing a medical in Liverpool now? Isn't that a bit pointless if he isn't joining for 12 months.

It is weird. Other clubs wouldn't need to offer more, they would just need to hit the buyout and agree terms with the player.

Unless we aren't hearing the full story and it's buy now, loan back.

Something we lack, depth and HGs so 2 birds 1 stone.

Doubt we'll get Barkley though.

Ox, DD and Llorente and we'll be done.
I would love Barkley. I rate him highly and I reckon he would flourish under Conte. But agree, we won't sign him.

Llorente would be nice. Would also be good for Tammy if we could take him off Swansea haha.

Barca are having a nightmare of a transfer window. Snubbed by Keita. Unable to complete Coutinho deal. Bought Paulinho. Spent £95m on Dembele who only has a 1 Bundesliga season under his belt.

Dembele isn't a bad buy for them.

Reckon the Keita links are BS as well..

Surely the deal is a contractual agreement that no one else can sign him and that he becomes a Liverpool player as soon as the season finishes? It's basically pointless for Liverpool unless that is the case.

And if he continues on the same trajectory, and transfer fees continue on the same trajectory, he is potentially worth a lot lot more than Liverpool paid in 12 months time.
No he won't. He has a fixed buyout clause that triggers in 12 months time. He can be bought for 48 million pounds at that point no matter what happens this season. Unless in the next 12 months he re-negotiates his contract (which is extremely unlikely) then they are actually paying more now than he would cost then, the whole point of it is to not have to compete with other clubs for his signature at that point.

Fixed price buyout does not guarantee Liverpool gets him in 12 months. Signing now guarantees Liverpool gets him in 12 months.

And if he continues to improve and clubs like Barca are interested they will throw money around to get their man. A market is a market. A $48m buyout does not guarantee any sort of transfer ceiling.

Clubs aren't going to pay more than the buyout clause to sign a player, in 12 months it would come down to where the player wants to go and that's where he would go. The transfer fee goes to the parent club and agent not the player so would have no bearing on the players decision. Leipzig get 48 million to trigger his buyout, then any club willing to meet that will negotiate terms with the player which will decide where he ends up. If Liverpool wanted to be part of that then they would be competing with any other potential purchasers in terms of whether they had European football, likelihood of league success, wages, structure of salary etc etc, not the transfer fee.

No he isn't because he has a buy-out clause.

It's been said that Arsenal would prefer to sell him to Chelsea but I've seen nothing regarding it being anything to do with the Suarez transfer. More that we see Liverpool as a rival for 4th place while Chelsea are above us. I've also read we are happy for Chelsea & Liverpool to start a bidding war over him to maximise profit. So far Chelsea are ahead as they are the only team that has made an offer.

Word a few days ago was we would only be entertained if our bid surpassed £40,000,001...
