Well, FIFA rejected the Silva clearance.

I don't care what anyone else says, supporting us is a roller coaster. Only we could give up our starter and loan out another CM, only to fail to get our desired SM after waiting a whole year for him for being just a few minutes late.

We're going to make an appeal and get this transfer through... I hope, but yikes...

Language is the main reason. Nobody liking the germans would be another. Having few marketable players doesn't help.

All this talk about Bundesliga. I've noticed that in recent years, there has been a strong push in doing marketing in English, and it does seem to get a lot of coverage (in fact, if I recall correctly, you could get Bundesliga games FTA here thanks to One)

Germans do have bigger attendances (though they do have less teams with, but their teams have bigger stadiums. Having Bournemouth is going to reduce your average. Then again, Bundesliga did have Darmstat and Ingolstat in the league last season.)

Looking at Bundesliga advertising, you kinda get the feeling that if they were marketed earlier, maybe they would be even more popular. They do have a good share in Asia, always have been (why do you think AFC players usually make a first stop in Germany?) Then again, it's a bit of a shame that Bundesliga advertising into the wider market coincided with the league being a boring one team league (blame that on Bayern being the best managed team in Germany.)

Compared to no one giving a shit about anything that comes out of England the shit hole

I was born in England and I thought we were tight :(

The best thing to come out of Germany was the tribe that left to settle in Britain. The rest that were left behind are humourless, boring campaigners with a shit football league that no one cares about :p

I wonder what makes the prem more appealing worldwide than the bundesliga, considering it is obviously such an inferior product. I'm sure Wadistance will fill us in

the language barrier - you're limited to BeIn sports for english broadcasts of German football. Thats about it. Prem has a plethora of english streams, but also translated and covered by a lot more countries as there's probably a greater diversity of backgrounds playing in the league.

one of the biggest reasons MUFC were so keen to sign Kagawa and we were so keen to get him back I think - it sells shirts in a big market.

My gripe with the EPL is the hype. The numbers speak for itself - there are more people wearing EPL shirts than other leagues apart from maybe spain. However, is the football really better in england compared to germany? Less goals per game, less points scored by the bottom teams, similar gap between first and second, worse goal difference for the bottom 3 in england, and same amount of different title winners in since 2000 in both leagues.

People here obviously love EPL cos its the first league they watched. I'm one of those people. Used to love Wolverhampton because I scored 30 goals with Steve Bull on CM99. Bought a shirt. But then realised that I enjoyed the style of play of the BL more. More skillful, faster football.

I only get on here and gee up the EPL guys because you're all so patriotic towards the league and see no other alternative.

As noted, I'm noticing a lot of English Bundesliga stuff in the last few years. I know we had it on one, and I'm seeing a lot of Bundesliga stuff online. Something about the Bundesliga stuff just feels... homely. It paints a different picture to how the Premier League portrays itself. Just look at the Bundesliga youtube channel, and it feels full of character, and is not shy to poke fun at itself at times. I think even the English versions of the German clubs also have a great sense of humour and fun.

Also, Spain? You mean Barca/Real. Good luck outside of that. Weird thing is that when I'm going about, I see a lot of the big 4, and I know of many big City fans (before they became big), I even saw a few Everton Lukaku shirts. Weirdly, I think I have seen a lot more children with Messi shirts. I can barely remember a Ronaldo shirt, or at least I haven't seen one in a long time.

But anyway, if you compare the last seasons of each league, they do look rather similar (well, chase for the title being the exception.) I think one other point is to note Bayer and Wolfsburg, two teams that usually do very well, and let finished in the bottom half. I have to admit that just like the midpack of the PL, the Bundesliga is an existing competition and is more unpredictable in who is fighting for Europe, whereas in England, you know which teams are going for Europe already.

The key difference is being that those Europe fighters can be title contenders, whereas in the Bundesliga, it requires Bayern to have a bad year for the title to go elsewhere. It's funny, because there used to be surprise winners of the Bundesliga, and the PL got accused of being a Big 4 league... it's funny that in this day and age, the other big leagues gave up their 'more exciting title' races while the PL has become more open.

If the title race was turned back a few years, the Bundesliga would have all the right ingredients, but that's probably the only thing holding it back. I'm seeing Bundesliga stuff a lot more on Youtube.

(And funnily enough, I watched Serie A before watching my first PL game (which I watched live at the stadium. I didn't watch a TV game for a long time.)

you're spot on with all of this - I think being a supporter of a smaller club like leicester gives you a different perspective than being outside the big earning clubs of england.

Being a school teacher, I see HEAPS of kids in Barcelona gear, not many at all in RM. The majority of kids I teach are either liverpool or chelsea fans, and funnily enough, they all love BVB (probably due to having pace merchants on fifa, and that I've got a wall mural of the stadium in my classroom).

Speaking of small clubs - I'm desperate to get a Palermo jersey. Any ideas where to look?

This is the main thing for me, the sports teams you support as a kid are the ones that you really care about and always will. Anything that comes later than that will always be secondary imo. When I first started following the PL at around 12 years old (1996-97ish) the only games you could see in Australia was one match a week on SBS on a saturday night and maybe some highlights, I supported Arsenal as a combination of watching those games and also all my mates who were football fans being Man U supporters so I wanted to pick the team that was battling against them for titles.

The serie a had the same length highlights show every Sunday back in the 90s on SBS (may have had a full game replay following it too)

What England did have though was the FA cup over here before my time (in the 80s and earlier) which gained attention and fans. This then continued all through the early to mid 90s.

Few suggestions that Leicester missed the deadline by 14 seconds. Would have been interesting to be a fly on the wall for that last half hour or so.

He was leading the line for Holland against France which is frightening if you're an Oranje fan!!
Why? He actually scores for his country. 7 from 15 so far with 5 assists.
He should keep playing for Holland if he keeps scoring for them.

so silva is actually a leicester player, but cos they missed the deadline he can't be registered until january. cos of 14 seconds.

Leicester need to pay a bribe of 1k per second late and the deal will go through magically.

Surely FIFA could let that go.
Why? rules are rules. If you start letting 14 seconds be allowable then how long until it is 2minutes, then 5 minutes, then 10 minutes.
Miss the deadline. Stiff cheddar.

Of course... of blooming course.

Arsenal screwed up? Try giving up two CM and then fail to get a player you have beennafter for a year by 14 seconds.

Phil Jones had the wackiest face in football... you plebs haven't seen the wonder that is Andy King, who delivers every match.

Oh... we scored a worldly or made an epic save? Not Messi or Neuer? Then you're nobody.

Yeah... I'm ragging... but this failure is just so Leicester...

I hate to go against my club, but I agree. You give us an inch and you'll give everyone a mile. We had a year to do this on time.

That said. I really hope this goes through. Otherwise... we've kinda wrecked Silva's career as well as our season. He was hoping to come to us to consolidate himself as a Portugese starter.

Also... from what my sources say. It was a delay in meeting the requirements to get an extended deadline. Which means surely Silva goes back to Sporting?

I'd say the error made is allowing the outgoing player to leave before the replacement was definitely in the door.
Wonder how this is different to DDG to Madrid.

I'm 100% on that, don't let Danny go until you're certain! Thing is, the club felt confident that they had it done correctly. Even the FA thought so.

We claiming technology error... which is... the exact same thing in the De Gea case.

Ah Palermo. Henry went there in my FIFA 2005 career in his first season. Then again, I gave up Ternanas depth to get in Maldini... for one season, before getting his epic regen.

Anyway... Palermo, you're better off importing, honestly. Unless there is some crazy Italian shop who are fans of Palermo... you're plum out of luck.

If you're not picky about the year, may I suggest this?
