Apparently Atletico might complain to FIFA about Barca tapping up Griezmann with a possible transfer ban on the cards.

Incredible after their sulking over Neymar in the summer.

Mes que un club, eh?

Spurs will need to spend.
I imagine Barkley will be sewn up, as will Sessegnon. Rose likely to be sold.
A winger/attacker and central defender would be good to build depth and push for top 4 and a deep CL campaign.
We never spend in January these days and if we ever do, they are bargain type deals with probable loan backs until the summer

I do agree we need to strengthen though

Not saying van Dijk comes to Chelsea but where does he fit across a back 3 best ?
Central Centre Back, Right Centre Back or Left Centre Back ?

Wherever he wants.

Don't see how they have a case if Barca have met his release clause. If anyone was to complain about Barca it surely should have been us with countless Catalaln press stories about how Coutinho was a done deal / was getting unvelied next week and would refuse to play again at LFC. I guess we thought it was better to make themselves look like fools.

Just because he has a release clause doesn't mean Barca are allowed to tap him up prior, and then publicly say it. They are also fresh off a ban.

AM reporting them definitely has merit and is embarrassing for Barca.

Both Atletico and Pool should report Barca. A summer ban sounds good to me.

we have a pattern of losing a central defender and having to rely on ring ins.
it worked well the year Wimmer stepped in, but fatigue eventually set in. Its a shame we didn't keep Wimmer with the promise of rotation. He was pretty solid.
I hate seeing Dier used there.

Wont happen, but Rose out and both Sessegnon and Tierney in would be good as it gives us a bit of versatility
Davies can either play #1 left FB or as backup to Verts.
Moves Dier into the middle rotations with Wanyama, Winks and Dembele. maybe even pull Alli back a little deeper for some touch.

All i can see us doing is sewing up Barkley though.
Allardyce will want the cash rather than losing a player for free. And it seems Barkley is keener on us than Chelsea (a first).
An ambitious signing would be Van Dijk too.

My understanding was once a club meets a release clause for a player in La Liga they are then able to speak to the player about negotiating personal terms for a transfer.

In any case they've done far worse in their desperate bid to buy Coutinho back in August.

They haven't met the release clause.

With Coutinho they were actually in talks with Liverpool, Liverpool were aware of it. So no, this would be worse.

No they werent. The club told Barcelona that they had no intention of selling Coutinho. There were no talks at all, that came form the Barcelona press.

Liverpool telling Barca he wasn't for sale constitutes talks, or did they do it via sign language?

I agree. JD doesn't.
I can see why Wimmer wanted to leave, needed regular minutes to ensure he gets into the Austrian side during WCQ and Euro 2020 Qualifiers.

I'd happily swap Rose for Shaw. Still young and Poch made him at Soton.
Alli is leaving, probably not next summer but possibly the one after.

Barkley I agree. I do think we will get him.
Van Dijk probably not. Could get a good CB for far less, which for a non guaranteed starter is prudent.

Agree on Wimmer. Just a shame. We dont pay the wages for someone to trade off playing time. What we could offer is playing time though, and rotate Verts & Alder a bit more.

i haven't seen Shaw play for a while, but i have seen a couple of Celtic's games and i really like Tierney.
And we seem keen on Sessegnon.
Either or, a left back or two would be nice.

Alli i'd be less sad to lose than Eriksen. I'd be interested to see if Madrid/Barca could match PSG levels of spending to satisfy Levy, but if 100-150m is on the table, i'd take it.
Alli is easily turned into the cash we need to build the squad/pay stadium costs.

I can see us adding Barkley, Sessegnon & Zaha this window.

Can't see Palace selling Zaha this window, just too important to their survival.

Barkley will definitely end up at Spurs IMO.
I reckon Rooneys form makes it a lot easier to cash in on Barkley.
