Apparently we're being linked to this chap.

Is he any good?
I reckon he'd be a good signing for Brighton.

Bit of change in Newcastles midfield it looks like this off-season. 2 of Jonjo, Merino, Hayden were in the starting lineup at points last season.

Dont think we would have bought him if he didn't have the relegation clause as he would have cost 25-30m easily. Capable of outstanding moments of brilliance punctuated by longer periods of being average. Should be handy as an impact sub but dont see him breaking into the first XI at all unless there is a major injury crisis like there was in midfield last season.
Yeah, not a starter for sure, but capable of changing the game with a moment of magic out of nowhere. Handy to have.

--------

Based on Hazard's comments it seems like he's as good as gone.

I guess it comes down to whether he is going to do another 15/16 season with his attitude. If it looks that way best to take the £150m Real are supposedly prepared to pay and run.

Ideally you would want him signing a new deal to put all the rumours to bed.
Yeah, i think they'll hang onto him for at least another 12 months and hope he signs on. Is a gamble as he'll be a lot cheaper then but worth the risk imo.

Sounding likely we'll be plonking €100m on Rugani and Higuian this week.

Giving us Morata, Batman, Giroud and Higuian as strikers and Cahill, Luiz, Rudiger, Christensen, Zouma and Rugani as CBs. Azpi will go back to being a RB.

A few sales coming up you would think.

I like the guy, consummate professional, young and English. Works hard, tidy enough DM who can fill in at CB if needed. Believe he was captain of the youth sides at Arsenal all the way through his time there which suggests he has leadership qualities. Will be a shame to lose him if he does indeed go but if the rumoured 10m fee is true, that will be pretty good business for us as he came from Arsenal for only 1m I believe.

Worrying signs for us as Cashley is yet to stump up any cash despite the outgoings and money saved last season. Losing Merino and Hayden and potentially only having Ki coming in on a free is going to leave us pretty light in midfield. Jonjo and Diame formed a great partnership in the second part of last season but if one goes down, not much left in terms of depth.

At least I'm not Bobby Madley

Wonder how Rafa is feeling ATM. He wanted to be able to spend in this window, and it hasn't really happened so far.

Would take Drinky back with open arms. I've missed him. :(
Our mid group should be Kante, Jorginho, RLC, Fab and Golovin(maybe Barrios come January) so he'll end up somewhere on loan IMO(same with Bakayoko) so you never know. I'd be happy to sell him back to you guys at a loss.

A lot of Toon fans reckon this will be his last season at the helm - probably getting sick of the odious owner that is Mike Ashley and his lies and unfulfilled promises. Michael Owen signed back in 2005 is still our record signing...

Must be incredibly frustrating for him to see clubs around us spending big (even newly promoted Fulham are showing their ambition and might come in for Mitro too) while we are slow to do business and have only brought in 1 loan signing (admittedly a popular addition), 1 loan turned permanent and a free transfer. Talk overnight is we are trying to do another loan deal for Ayew from Swansea...

Cashley is also selling our new kits at higher prices than that of bigger, more reputable clubs. Just leaching and exploiting the loyalty of Toon fans (who are hardly the most affluent fans to begin with). If we were an ambitious or successful club challenging for silverware, I could probably understand it but given he just uses the club for a platform for Sports Direct, it's just farcical.
