I’d have Allison pretty well in the top 3-5 keepers in the world now. He’s been immense for Roma and there wasn’t even really a debate about whether or not he would be the number 1 at the World Cup back in Brazil, which shows where they place him in the pecking order with Ederson. Would be a terrific signing for Liverpool.

I’m not convinced over the Salah tax stuff. I think it’s more likely that Roma, just like every other club know Liverpool are desperate for a new number 1 and only have a few weeks to get it done. Whoever they end up getting a keeper off they’re going to pay more than any other club would for the same player.

Personally I think keepers are incredibly valuable. I would say they have been historically undervalued if anything. Have no qualms coughing up 60m for a goal keeper, even if they are only one of the top 10 in the world.

What happens if you only look at the last 3 windows though? ;)

These sorts of statistics can frequently be manipulated to prove whatever point you want
Last 3 windows about 80mil net. I wasn't trying to manipulate anything, I used 6 windows because that's the time Klopp has been here.

that also comes down to the sort of keeper tite wants to play. he's a lot more orthodox than ederson.

Nothing wrong with clubs spending what they can afford to improve their squad.

It's only the last decade that spending money on transfers has been seen as a bad thing.

I think Ederson is better than Alisson, but I also think Firmino is better than Jesus. So I reckon Brazil's coach plays his favourites.
Alisson doesnt have a great command of his area and he tends to knock saves back into dangerous areas. He wasn't great at the WC but when Brazil control so much possession you don't need to be that busy.

It's more they then up prices for ordinary fans so they can afford to spend money on said players.. that's why people get pissed off.

well yeah, it's national footy. it's part and parcel of being an international manager. del bosque was notorious for it.

TV revenue has more than compensated for that. Clubs choose not to pass on the savings.

Was it the last deal where the increase in TV money could have covered the full cost of every season ticket and clubs would still be ahead.

You’re right that he’s a different style, and Ederson is clearly very good. It’s not just Tite though, Taffarel who has worked as the national team gk coach expects him to become Brazil’s greatest ever keeper. I think it was him who called Alisson the ‘Pele of goalkeepers’. They rate him massively

Bojan must watch a lot of Love & Hip Hop: Miami.

If they 'flopped' they wouldn't still be starting would they (or still a main part of the squad in Alby's case)?

I would think even opposition fans would be pretty impressed by how successful Klopp/FSG's re-build has been, especially if you believe the suggestion that Rodgers gave over full control of transfers to FSG at the start of 15/16. Karius might count as the only failure at 5.5M and he could still count as a good #2 (I don't think we'll move on three keepers in one window, and I suspect Ward is more fed up with bench time than Karius, who may want to make up for UCL).

If we sell Migz, the only members of 13/14 left will be Hendo and Studge. In that time there hasn't really been anyone cycling through as a buy/flop/sell, with the exception of the striker position. Benteke fits the bill, and then Ings & Origi may follow suit and leave having only made a small impact on the team. But all of them were bought before Klopp started. Firmino was too, though, to be fair. Point is that Klopp has shown loyalty, and so has created a tight squad with a real mix of free, cheap, expensive, and silly money players.

But it's surely a sign of the 'boom bust' that we are second fav ($5.50) to win the league. I guess the logic there is how good defensively we were once VVD arrived, and that we can build momentum which might make us a real threat, whereas Mourinho's war of attrition style doesn't look like getting a big points return (that's not having a dig - Lukaku and Pogba both looked great in the WC; maybe the goals will start pouring in...).
Morono and Clyne arent starting and Pool have been trying to sell Morono for 12 months. IMO TAA outperformed Clyne anyway, is much better going forward and Klopp is happy to play kids as evidenced by his BVB days.

And we are fine with this. Im happy to play TAA over Clyne, he's vastly superior going forward and is a terrific young prospect. Clyne though is also very good and gives us excellent cover at RB. With Gomez and Fab able to fill in there, I'm really happy with our options at RB.

Also we can pick and choose. Perhaps Clyne with his experience and the fact he is better defensively than TAA, you may see him play against the other top six sides in the league and play in big European away matches. Where as at home against bus parkers like Huddersfield, Brighton, Man U etc then TAA comes into the side to give us that extra attacking flair from RB.

Horses for courses.

He’s better than ok and looks good.
Still chuckle at your call about 500 game Liverpool legend.

Tad premature there Jodlington
Laugh away but I know talent when I see it. He has a huge ceiling and is already putting in solid displays in big CL games. He's already scored a few goals for the club and has now played 45 times for the first team. He's a local lad, grew up supporting the team. So I see him going nowhere and I see him playing a lot of games for Liverpool!

Clyne was great for his first two seasons. Played nearly every game pretty much and nearly every minure. He's been a great signing based just off his first two seasons. Copped a nasty injury in pre season which he didn't get over until the end of the season.

Glad we are lucky enough to have 2 quality RBs fighting for a starting spot. Also have Fabinho who can play there plus Gomez if needed. It's our strongest area along with the forward line.

As i said they are OK options, if you want to make that next step they need to be upgraded imo though.
One area we dont need new signings in. Clyne is a top class RB. The only question is how he recovers from a season off injured. TAA is coming along nicely plus we have Fabinho who is very good at RB, Gomez & even Milner if needed.

We dont need to be signing a RB. Coutinho replacement #1 priority, a keeper and possibly another CB. Likely only sign 2 out of 3 of those anyway.
