D. Silva is among the top 50-100 best all time Premier League players.

I would say probably even top 30, possibly 20.
Not for mine. One of those so underrated he became overrated players. Lacks a standout feature and too poor a finisher to be considered among the very best. City seemed to tick along nicely when Silva wasn’t playing so I think his importance to their team was overstated.

Think Mata at his best was better but Silva did it for longer. Hard to split the two though. Perhaps Mata. He didn’t rely on others playing well around him as much and was much more of a goal threat.

Respectfully disagree on all fronts.

His vision, control/touch and passing are all world class.

I think them ticking along nicely is also due to their depth.

Silva definitely for me over Mata. I really like Mata too, but there is a reason Silva has made 84 more appearances for Spain - and he's retired.

Bristol have got themselves a good young LB, Englands under 21 starter.

I would be annoyed about this but Juan Castillo has done a u turn and is now re-signing rather than leaving so alls cool. Hes going to be a gun.

He'll be off to Bournemouth in a season for about 16M.....

Interesting times at Arsenal. Keep hearing about this 45-50m + sales budget.
Emery getting screwed over there. 45m would barely get a Ramsey replacement.

Not to mention needing cover for the injured Bellerin.
Needing to replace Welbeck.
Selling Xhaka or Mustafi is possibly going to require a greater outlay to improve on them.

That budget really is only ok if you have little to fix. Not sure how you plug them all.

Yes, agreed on all fronts. Hard to gauge what is really happening at the club. Missing out on top 4, when it was there for the taking is going to have large consequences. Getting dismantled in the EL final didn’t help either.

With the budget restrictions, and stagnant direction of the club, this is going to take 2-3 windows to fill the gaps in the squad.

Ramsey, Wilshere, Welbeck all recently walking on frees (for various reasons) has been poorly managed. British players, with home grown status, should have been able to raise funds if we’d sold them proactively.

Now we somehow need to find a CM replacement whilst also bolstering full backs, a new CB and a winger.

Mustafi, Xhaka and Ozil should be moved on.

Emery botched the last few weeks of the season, but he’s been given very little to work with here.

Surely Griezmann is gone to cover some of that fee?
The club have know for months that Griezmann is leaving. There have been rumours that Barca agreed to buy him back in March, and that there might even be documentation of this fact - although I doubt Barca would be that stupid because this would open them up to needing to pay his current release clause of €200m, instead of the €120m it drops to on July 1.

There have also been rumours that the reason that the club announced that he was leaving when it did was because they found out that he was doing to make another "documentary" announcing the decision like he did last year.

Between the fee coming in for Griezmann and the net difference in wages (€24m cf to between €3.6m and €6 for Felix), this transfer will be net neutral within a year

If they agreed to buy him in March they wouldn't have to pay 200m, the cost is dependent on the date they actually buy him.

Going to be intriguing to see Felix develop.

Lot of money for someone that is still in the very early stages of his development. But there was no shortage of interested clubs, even at £100m+.

If he is that good, why have Barca and Real not swooped?

Also we've officially signed our first player for the summer.

17 year old Sepp Van den Berg from PEC Zwolle.
because one is getting griezmann and the other got hazard

Neither swooped on Mbappe either. They probably just presume they'll get him one day anyway. RM seem to think so with Mbappe.

probably as good as is available, needs to work on his offensive game to be more in line with the modern fullback. but plenty of time for that to be developed. certainly a step up from valencia/young.

This is what I was thinking. That's a lot of money for a defensive full-back. He's going to have to really up his offensive game to suit the way United will want to play, but he's young enough and probably talented enough to develop it.
