If I’m United I just get the Maguire deal done. Proven himself as one of the better CB’s in the league, has his best years ahead of him and fills a desperate need. They will be paying overs whoever they get anyway and won’t be able to poach the absolute top players without champions league.

I’m not saying he’s at the same level, but when Liverpool signed VVD it was an absolutely ridiculous fee. No club on the planet was going to pay anywhere near what Liverpool did. But he filled a role they needed so they paid what it took. At the time they didn’t think they were signing the best CB in the world, they were just signing the player the team needed, it’s just worked out much better than expected. Alison was a similar situation.

United need to take a similar approach. Find players that fill the roles they need and make the team better, and pay what it takes to make that happen. Maguire ticks those boxes.

Zidane still has his pogba hard on wants flo to get it done at all costs so of course the media are running with multiple players and cash deals

Just stump up the 150m or **** off

Was reading an article that when raffa joined Newcastle they promised him a new training centre etc and after 3 years all cashley paid for was the club rooms to get a new coat of paint have to feel for the toon fans

For €20m apparently

Great get for PSG, but hopefully he plays a bit and isn't just shunted off the bench for them

Will be good to see Sarabia with a bit more exposure, even though he was at Sevilla for the last 2-3 years

He has the talent to make an impact, imo if we were moving on Lamela, he'd be the right sort of guy to replace him, can play all across the AM/wing positions but is probably more of an inverted RM/10

But straight back on loan to Leeds. This pretty much sums it up:

Oh boy, about time

This is me waiting for Ndombele and Manolas to be announced by Spurs and Napoli, heck even Hummez to Napoli too

Tightarse FC

They sure do love a freebie
How many do you guys?

Wasnt it 50 in 2018.
Yep, Juve and Chelsea as bad as each other in this regard
Is been reported that Tanguy Ndombele is at Spurs training today and will have his medical.

Leicester have rejected a £70mil bid from a Man Utd for Maguire, want more than what VVD was bought for :p

The implosion is coming & will be amazing
VVD was £75m, but point proven

United just ain't bullying minnows/midtable types anymore for their best players, like they did under Fergie.

Lol you and JD are two peas in a pod. It’s done, he’s ours.

Yes great, better now than never I guess

Would like to see some movement in regards to full backs next

Aulas was happy with €60m rising to 70 in the end, seemed a lot lower than what he was saying to the press.
Yeah, I'm a little surprised by the fee. Thought it would be 10-15m more than that given the talk in the last few weeks.

Anyway, this feels like a proper 'break the glass ceiling' type signing for us. It will be interesting to see how we approach the rest of the window. Big rumours already about regarding Dani Ceballos, which would make sense considering that we probably needed 2 CMs, and then maybe a replacement for Eriksen if he leaves as well.

This signing is pretty similar to the price range/ability that Man City grabs their players for, so pretty pleased with it. But I gotta wonder if we have to sell to buy now for the rest of the window? Was that our budget there? Etc

I reckon the initial reports of £100m were correct, with anything additional to that needing to be raised with sales. If you think about it £60m for TN, £8m for JC plus the £25m they seem to be negotiating for Sessegnon pretty much comes to the 100m talked about.

It’s become a more even playing field, but also the cost of players these days is outrageous. 10 years ago we’d be seeing reports of United closing in on a £15m deal for Maguire, now it’s “£70m offer rejected”.

More of a level playing field in terms of TV cash, only the Play off winners and teams playing in Europe are ahead IIRC, so I guess these types of clubs don't have to sell their best anymore to keep afloat to reinvest.
