Apparently the agent wanted 14m for himself, depending on what you believe, a lot of issues with image rights as well. Maybe with a bit more time an understanding could have been reached. It's disappointing to not happen but can't fault the club for not bending to an agents demands after recent issues with them. The Juventus/Dybala relationship will be interesting to see.

I'd say yes myself, he's a much better CF than all of those and United will be significantly weaker if Rom left and they didn't buy quality to replace him.

From what I've seen I don't think VDB would have fit with us at all as he's too similar to Dele in playing style and the positions they like to take up. We need another midfield that can get on the ball and is capable of consistently controlling the temp, but also finding the final passes too because we look completely bereft of ideas when Eriksen doesn't play. Basically, we need a carbon copy of Eriksen because unless we find a completely different way to play or we replace him like-for-like we're going to seriously struggle without him.

VDB can play much like Winks can too.
He played more advanced for Ajax because De Jong played deeper. He's sort of a glue player. you can drop him almost anywhere in the middle and he'll gel .

I wanted VDB as a starter with Winks as backup.
Eriksen goes, we need someone like Lo Celso or Fernandes (or Dybala).
And a RB. the pre-season hasn't filled me with confidence Aurier/KWP/Foyth are solid enough to mount a decent campaign

Lamela is an upgrade option too. Which is why i think we could/should be looking at 2 mids in even if Eriksen stays.

Still didn't happen. RM are trying to flog James off for 40m euros and they also know that United won't take less than 100m (even 150m) for Pogba so it makes zero sense that RM then bid a player United don't want and a paltry 27m.

Only question mark is on Juventus's thought process. Think at that price Everton can't lose even if Kean proves to be a dud, good talent, could be anything really.

I think he was having issues with the italian crowds and racism.
Which was affecting his attitude towards the club (much of this is from what i've read)

I think it was a case of get what you can now...plus Ronaldo, possibly Icardi or Lukaku coming in.

He wanted more game time and was stuck behind Ronaldo, Dybala and Mandzukic. Add to that they had to balance the books properly with De Lijgt coming in and you get a transfer out. There is a gentlemans agreement that lets them match an offer. It's a loan without it being a loan at the moment.
