If he gets an exemption to the 1 year rule then there is something extremely suss happening behind the scenes with him.

I bet he's got photos somewhere of Roman slipping Putin an envelope full of cash :)

Hamsik's sale to china has been cancelled because the buying club tried to pay a different amount to the one agreed!

Hahaha. Having dealt with suppliers over there this doesn't surprise me one bit, they try to pull the wool over your eyes with everything.

napoli should just send someone else with a shaved head and mohawk then.

Oh yeah. Andy Mitten and a few other very well sourced guys said it.
it would be neat if there was stuff available after guys finished in these jobs that they explained how and why these sorts of transfers were even discussed. martial, a young player still with a big fee and maybe not performances to match it, but not too far off, involved in a deal for a 30 year old who isnt even as good as the guy you're including in the deal.

factor in that chelsea always seem to get pretty good money at least for their players, it's one that i dont think many can really figure out. i guess maybe cos jose has a massive hard on for wingers who track back.

This. If there’s one thing I rate about Willian it’s his work rate. He used to have to cover for Ivanovic who would always bomb forward on that right side. Willian was basically a RB playing under Mourinho and Mourinho adored him for it.

Plus Mou hates youth and Martial was in the development phase of his career so he probably didn’t completely trust him. Mourinho would always turn to experienced heads when he wanted a job done. He also recruited for the now as he probably knew he had an expiry date.

In general yes. With this deal, Martial refusing to sign a new contract due to Mourinho being his manager and bugger all playing time along with Mou's win now mentality and distrust of youth.

I always have a healthy distrust of fees quoted for player transfers. Apparently, until the Neymar deal, Ronaldo's transfer to United was still the largest transfer in which a team received the full sum upfront with no bonuses or clauses included in the fee. £80m upfront. Lots of the transfer fees quoted for players include clauses and the fee is is spread over a number of instalments. FFP has probably made this spreading of fees more prevalent than ever and time value of money is important to note.

Another well known example i guess is the original Martial deal. Reported as £55 million. Really, IIRC it was roughly £30m as a transfer fee (which may have been in instalments, i can't recall) , 10m after a certain amount of goals, 5m after a certain number of appearances and 10m if he won the Ballon D'or.

I have heard numerous things about Chelsea reporting transfers done in Euros as Pounds (David Luiz to PSG the most notable example) when the discrepancy in exchange rates was larger.

When i heard about the Solanke and Ings deals, i figure that a combination of bonuses and instalments are involved.

Ings is a straight up deal, 18m + 2m after a loan with an obligation to buy this season. Has been very good for them and I would take him back in place of Sturridge but unfortunately it is a done deal.

Not too much said about the Solanke deal. More likely the kicker was including Clyne on loan for the rest of the season which hasn't worked out well for us at all. Warnock's tears about Clyne were quite hilarious, he acted like Clyne was there player before anything was signed.

Sorry, i actually meant Ibe, not Ings.

The transfer fee thing i mentioned before is not taking a shot at specific clubs, more pointing out something that i think is widespread. Most clubs don't announce the fees they are paying either unless a release clause is activated.
I wish all transfer fees were made public. Seeing the term "undisclosed" grinds my gears.

It then creates a bunch of errors when different people discuss who is spending what.

Yep. No reason why it shouldn't be fully disclosed.
