Bloody awful what’s happened to Sala. You wouldn’t think there’d be anything but bad news to come out of this.

This is probably a terrible time to raise this question but as no one here knows him, I’m going to anyway. Do clubs have insurance on player purchases? Or are Cardiff left with the payment should he not be available to play.
Nah I think a lot of people are wondering the same. It’s a pretty unique (devastating) situation.

The comedy on here the last couple of pages RE: Coutinho.

Wouldnt get in the United side, is apparently trash.

Goodness me.

I'm not overly fond of Coutinho for how he left and the antics he did but cor blimey is he a cracking footballer and he'd walk into every side in the PL. City would be the only team he wouldnt be absolutely guaranteed starts but he'd rotate in and out just like they do with all there top players like B.Silva, Mahrez etc..

I guess he wouldn't walk into every side then.

Do you even read what you write?

I've actually developed a weird fear of flying which is odd, never had a particularly bad experience, but the last few times I've flown, if there's been any dips of turbulence I've been irrationally worried.
That happened to me in my thirties also. Was never fearful of it until then. I’m ok with it again now though. I wasn’t terrified but I just had this feeling something bad was going to happen

Yeah that's exactly it.

Especially one that sounds like it struggled to take off. I'd just say "Yeah thanks but I think I'll take the plane to London".
Crazy to get on a single engine aircraft imo. Engine failures happen, ok not often but it happens. Obviously you’re a gonna if it occurs on one of those things.

it's probably more to do with being older and being responsible for more people and whatnot.

I did have a fear of flying until a high school friend of mine who was a pilot for King Island airlines & Mac Air in Qld showed me what exactly goes into running a commercial.

The aircraft is inspected every flight. Serviced & maintained to the nth degree. Flights are planned thoroughly with just about every potential scenario you can think of. Pilots are constantly getting retrained and tested regularly to maintain competency. Mechanical failures do not generally cause an aircraft to crash. All flight critical systems are double or triple redundant and any one of those systems being inoperable means the aircraft us grounded until they are fixed. Collisions are almost impossible thanks to avoidance systems and the aircraft will even warn the pilots repeatedly if they are unintentionally flying the aircraft into an obstacle. There's also two pilots so if one is incapacitated the other can land by themselves.

So be rest assured that you aren't going to be in a crash on a commercial aircraft. Of course there are freak accidents that can happen but the chances of being involved in those are less than you winning the lottery twice in a row.

Small private single engine planes on the other hand don't have these checks and balances so have a higher accident rate. I'd be more hesitant to get on onbe although I have for scenic flights in the past.

Yeah fear of flying would go down as an irrational fear, but it’s probably something most people fear to some degree at the back of their minds. Like SM has said, getting on a non commercial single engine plane like the unfortunate Sala did ups the danger considerably, but you’re still as close to 100% as you can get to not perishing. I think the takeoff and landing are the two times you feel your buttocks slightly clenching. Especially when you’re on one of those huge 747’s, you just sit there thinking how the **** does this thing get off the ground and manage to stay there!

I really didn’t think Coutinho was much good.

There's a bit of hyperbole being thrown around in this thread. Let's not deny that Coutinho is clearly a very talented footballer. But....

As an opposition supporter you often find yourself worrying about what sort of impact the opponents most dangerous players would do to your team but I never once had any such concerns with Coutinho. He just wasn't that good.

I feel Liverpool are a much much better side without him.

He was in excellent form just prior to his sale, and his enormous price tag has perhaps overinflated how good he actually was.

He’d walk into Arsenal’s XI yes, not quite sure if he’s a guaranteed starter at the rest of the top 6 though.

I forgot the word "except" ... Oh no, how will we move on from this disaster.

I dont think anyone will understand what I was talking about now. Whatever will we do.
Which changes the whole meaning of your post.

If you can't actually see the difference it makes then, well.....

I agree with the sentiment that coutinho wouldn't start at utd, he'd start at arsenal because we don't really have the quality where he can play, he'd start at chelsea aswell, don't think he starts at any other side including liverpool now.

He really wasn't that great of a player, there were a heap ahead of him when he was running around the epl not the biggest surprise he's flopped at barca tbh.

Context is a wonderful thing. If you asked the same question 6 weeks ago, would you have got the same answer from Utd supporters?

Of course the answer is no, you wouldn’t have got any answer, because they weren’t here.
