Sorry, but this is a pretty daft comment. Chelsea’s short term policy has nothing to do with your managers being foreign. It’s entirely driven by Roman and the board.
You’ve misinterpreted my point. Our recent managers have been stubbornly opposed to playing youth. I highly doubt an English manager would ignore our academy products the way these foreign managers have. What Roman and the board does is irrelevant in this discussion. I’m talking purely from a manager’s perspective. English managers are more likely to be invested into the progression and development of younger English/academy players.

Possibly.. but on the other hand the managers that come in have usually lost the dressing room within a few years and their time is up regardless of who the owner is. Probably speaks more about the players and the culture than the managers or Roman but we do seem to love picking the stubborn ones. That’s why it’s exciting to see what Lampard brings. Obviously with the excitement comes nervousness as it could go pear shaped straight away. But its a good change to have a homegrown guy in there, might be a good chance to change things long term, use our academy more, not lose the dressing room so quick as he’s already played with the majority of them.

I dunno, i think we are slowly moving towards using the kids more. Christensen and RLC are nailed on numbers of the team/squad and CHO looks like joining them. James and Mount will be next, maybe Tammy so it is slowly happening.

I think expectations will be lowered a bit too as we try to be self sustainable rather than Romans toy. Sarri survived a down period no other previous manager probably would have, so maybe we've changed.

Frank will need all the help he can get but I'll be relaxed if Jody Morris is his right hand man.
Hudson-Odoi debuted for England before he started in the Premier League. Sarri was basically forced into playing him and was unwilling to start him for most of the season. CHO had to tell the club he wanted to leave before he was given a good run at it. Loftus-Cheek was similar. It was always Kovacic starting with Barkley being the sub. Christensen only got minutes towards the end because Rudiger got injured. Sarri heavily favoured the Luiz/Rudiger CB pairing.

All these other players are coming back from loan because we have a transfer ban. Would it happen otherwise? My guess is no. I’m glad it has happened because Frank will give guys like Mount, Ampadu and James a go. If we didn’t have a transfer ban we would hire some Italian manager and we would sign all his favourites from Serie A while our youth rot on the bench.

Ruben won his spot fair and square imo, by working his arse off and performing when given the chance. He says as much in a few interviews. He was ahead of Barkley and Kovacic before he got injured.

CHO, the less we talk about that the better. Christensen is behind a couple of very good CBs but hes performing when needed and is happy.

I guess we'll never know if we didnt have the ban what would have happened. Im guessing Frank would still be chased, but he may have wanted different player.

Its is exciting though that we'll finally be forced to play the kids. Ampadu, Mount, James, Tammy, CHO, RLC, Christensen etc

But hey i can find a silver lining on every cloud. No expectations just enjoy the ride.

I haven’t met too many Portuguese people but Italians tend to be pretty stubborn in my experience.

It's not about having to use the kids for me. They have to be good enough first and foremost. I'm all for trying to bring kids through but they have to be world class to keep a regular spot at a club as big as Chelsea. RLC and Christiansen would be squad players at best wouldn't they?

But yeah as you said... maybe times they are a changing at Chelsea. In years gone past Sarri would have been ruthlessly sacked.

Didn’t Christiansen start under Conte?

Both Christensen and RLC are good enough to be starters for us imo.

Stench of Raiola all over that. No idea why young players go with that campaigner as their agent. He must be incredibly influential (or manipulative) with the players themselves if he's able to get him to give up on what he's said is his dream move to Barca.

Raiola's Dutch, so there's that connection. PSG apparently offers about double of what Barcelona offered him - 14m vs 7m. Dream move or not, that is a lot of money. Also, De Ligt was quoted this week saying this may not be the right time to join Barcelona, since they're not short of CBs at this moment. That's a fair point.

Fornals is done apparently, 24m deal, just has to agree terms, which should be a formality, will be announced in 48 hours.

Aston Villa came in with late interest.

Happy with the signing, he's a similar player to Santi Cazorla and only 23. I do wonder what this means for Lanzini though.

Conte may finally get his man.

Who do you want to replace him with ?

I have a small suspicion United want full value from Inter and will bring in Griezmann who would suit the style Ole wants better. Other than that couldn't really care. We need a CB and a RW first.

I wish you well in your attempts to get full value out of Inter.

Well they won't get him otherwise. If we've already turned down Icardi I think it means we're being serious.

It's not really the AFL.

No real point in being excited to play the kids when your a club like Chelsea unless they are potentially world class.

You'd rather just buy those potentially world class kids.

There's absolutely no credit in world football for developing your own.

Who really gives a shit about Southampton, or gave a shit about West Ham of old or Ajax.....
