i do wonder what would happen. barca have to pay the 200 mil? the contract is canceled and he goes back to atletico? sits out for a certain time? it doesnt make a lick of sense to do something so daft when you have such a clear run at a player. but barca really do seem to consider themselves geniuses and above most clubs, so it's not that surprising.

It would be very amateur if there’s actual documentation dated earlier than now, when his clause was €200m. I’d be staggered if they actually put pen to paper then. What a failure of their layers and advisors if so.

There’s a difference between having an “agreement” in place (ie, it’s well known Barca tapped him up months ago like the campaigners they are) versus actually having signed the contract.

If they’ve been idiotic enough to have signed it back then, and Atletico have the supporting evidence of this, I really do hope they get what’s coming to them.

You're completely ignoring the fact how it is against the rules to approach a contracted player without permission, let alone sign documents if they do exist. If those documents exist Barca are in more trouble then having to pay extra monies to AM.

What a laugh - compensation is way out of step. PL started this when they changed compensation to enable the quality young players to go to "better clubs". Who knows whether it is actually beneficial though in the end.
