I love that part of the tweet that says ‘negotiating a fee isn’t that straight forward.’ Its super straight forward tbh. Pay the asking fee in the given timeframe. As a teacher, I couldn’t have been more clearer to my students if I said this

There's been so many stories like that this summer.

"We want the player, but we won't pay the asking price".

Then STFU and move onto someone else.

We've been just as guilty, doing a dance with ADL over Koulibaly. If we're not prepared to pay what they want, and they're not prepared to sell for what we'll pay, then everyone should just move on.

Negotiations in most things start far apart and come together. Just because a club won't pay the asking price doesn't mean the selling club won't budge if they do actually want to sell.

You're a sucker if the first offer you make is accepted, it usually means you're paying too much.

we seem to expect other clubs to be as soft selling players as we are. club has known what napoli want for koulibaly for about 3 seasons at least, and they havent budged. at this point pay what they want or move on.

If the kids are good enough(like Mount, Tammy, James, Christensen, CHO etc) theyll get game time. We'll still be using the youf with Frank and more importantly Jody Morris involved.

I doubt Gallagher wants to be sold anyway and still has dreams of playing senior football at Chelsea. If he has a good season he'll get a chance next season.

I don't think that's an issue. We'd be happy with loaning him, it's just picking the right club to send him to.

Can't see him wanting to go to West Brom (who seem to be the other interested) and if Bielsa genuinely wants him as a rotation option behind Klich, I'd say that would be a pretty desirable option for a 20 year old kid, especially as Klich is 30 years old.

Absolutely but to suggest if you're not willing to meet the asking price you shouldn't bother is a little bit facetious. Did Chelsea end up meeting the asking price for Havertz? From reports they wanted 90m pounds and Chelsea got him for 72m. Quite a bit less.
