I reckon it's a mixture of the fact he's probably going to get 1 last big contract (turning 30 soon), and Keita or maybe Thiago (if we sign him this or next summer) could end up taking his spot.

He's got his medals in the bag, if Arsenal give him more money, a longer deal and a nailed on starting spot then that's in his best interests to take it.
