FC Augsburg are the other Bayern powerhouse.... aka the only other team in the Bundesliga from Bavaria. But before that Nurnberg.

1860 Munich is also a reasonable sized club, probably like a Charlton or Brentford equivalent.


Nurnberg is a MUCH bigger club than Augsburg regardless of them being in 2.Bundesliga.

They are second only to Bayern with Bundesliga titles, they've won more 1st division titles than Dortmond.

Play out of a 50K seater with an average crowd of 40k even when they are shit. Been relegated more times from the 1st division than any other side also.


Comparable traditionally to someone like Aston Villa in the EPL where Augsburg would be Birmingham City. Ingolstadt has a bigger rivalry with Augsburg than with Bayern or Nurnberg though.

I did read it and who cares if they get relegated to div 3? They average more fans to a game than Chelsea, Everton and Leicester and are historically a huge club in Germany, they are one of Bayerns biggest rivals and always pull one of the largest crowds when they play each other.

Reminds me of SM trying to preach that Hull were a bigger club than Leeds a few years ago.

Blackburn are bigger than Burnley.

Middlesborough being just out of the EPL and in the Championship doesn't make them a bigger club than Sunderland.

Bournemouth aren't a bigger club than Portsmouth.
