I wonder why he wants to use the rest of his peak at a club not really going places. Auba is deadly, so weird that a bunch of big teams arent in for him.

58 CBs completed 1000 minutes of football or more in the PL last season.

Ake ranks 57 out of 58 for aerial duels won.

I can't take that stat seriously when Sebastian Haller was no 1 this season and Joelinton and Benteke make the top 10.

Fernandino won the most aerial duels for City this season and he's 5'9.

Yep. He's short for a CB and very weak in the air, but it shouldn't effect him at City.

Its not Lampards call, we have a WC youf set up thats sorts that stuff out. Its generally up to the player where he ends up.

I don't think it's at all redundant to use his aerial duel statistics from last season when assessing how he might fare at City. Certainly more relevant than citing Cannavaro's or Thiago Silva's height in assessing Ake's likely success in a City defence.

Given most teams will defend deep against City and look to hit them on the counter/transition via long balls, winning that first header is crucial for a defence like City (something which Laporte is good at), but if Ake is going to be in that position his aerial weakness might be found out. No one is saying Ake is a bad player, just that in a defence which probably faces a fair few long balls he might have some things he needs to work on before we chalk it down as a game changing signing.
