Your financial issues pre-date Covid.

Bloom and loan overdrafts have had to fund your transfer activity for the last 2 seasons.

Bloom is recently on record as saying he wants to balance the books.

You have barely sold anyone in the last 2 seasons. It is a complete monetary thing for a small club like Brighton.

There in lies the big problem.

You are spruiking him as a 30m asset, so he's going to want to be paid like one.

Which would most certainly put him up there with Dunk as your highest paid player.

I doubt Brighton are willing to do that at this stage.

Leeds will quite happily make him our highest paid player (Similar to what we did with Phillips last year after Villa's interest)
If they're in the shit as much as you claim why have they just signed Lallana?

“Just spoken to a senior source at Olympiacos on Liverpool's deal for Kostas Tsimikas: * Flying to the UK today to complete the move * Deal is for €16.5m, plus 20% of future sell-on * Talks ongoing for 10 days * Tsimikas assured he was first choice ahead of Jamal Lewis”- Kevin Palmer

How much is he on?
He was a Liverpool player mate you tell me, I doubt he was on pennies at Liverpool and doubt he would have taken a substantial cut when signing on a free.

Edit:multiple sources saying he breaks their wage structure and at least one suggesting he's on close to 90k a week.

Not rapt with 6m/year for three years for a 32 year old but he will add good experience and can hopefully be a good role model for the younger ones in the squad.
He still has at least a season if not two of quality still.

According to Nixon Brighton want 40m for White.

Good kanga for a player Brighton supporters are saying is 4th or 5th in line in their 'production line'.

Would be idiots not to ask for a premium if another team is so desperate for them. Spurs got 14m out of us for Jake Livermore because of his successful loan, it's pretty standard.

Willian's been a great servant and can leave knowing he played a pivotal role in our trophies but with the new faces coming in it's a good time to wish him well with his next chapter.

Arsenal have themselves a reliable player who can add a lot but his lack of damage can often be a source of frustration.

Which will have been made possible by him coming in as a free signing.

My take is there's other caveats to his contract and that he might not be on 90k a week wages but he's guaranteed roles and positions upon retirement that see him earning after he finishes.

Of course but if you were in as much financial peril as some are trying to make out you wouldn't be making that kind of signing.
