This happened last time. Bale didn't want to take a hit on wages, maybe this time he will to facilitate a transfer. Levy wont be wanting to break Spurs' wage structure.

If he is let go on a free Spurs could get him by paying a signing on fee to compensate for the reduced wages.

Maybe because he wants to spend the next couple of years actually playing football? It is possible for a footballer to take a hit on wages. Especially during covid pandemic.

With that line of thinking he'll be stuck collecting wages & playing golf in Spain. Not like he cant get a 200k/ week contract out of Spurs, they could also pay him a signing on fee if RM let him go on a free transfer. He is not going to get his RM wages at Spurs either way.

He played the same amount as vazquez & rodrygo this season - plus plays for Wales.
He is apparently on 350k after tax, 150million contract...
That and golf in Spain sounds quite nice - being "stuck" like that for two more years sounds doesn't too terrible.
On the other hand that Spurs 11 with Jose looks quite solid

Only two years left on his contract. 200k/ week plus signing on bonus makes sense. Real letting him go for free would be them doing their part.

There’s no guarantee the money will still be there for him when he’s 33. I doubt there’s must interest in an average player from Celtic who’s 33. 33 year olds that get money are usually bigger names. A player in his prime on the other hand.
It sucks for the Socceroos but the realistically they’re only ever a chance for the Asian cup. Hardly a goal worth being selfless for.

Andy Naylor is considered a joke by a large section of Albion fans. When he was working at the Argus he'd never break any big news and half his info seemed to come from North Stand Chat.
The club fed him very little over the years in terms of leaked information. So no Albion fans rate him and thus see everything Phil Hay has been spruiking as rubbish if he's relying on Naylor to feed him info.
Leeds fans however have been taking everything he says as legit.
