If they stay up and keep the coach

Maybe, they will buy better players

It's fun writing obviously sruff consistently. Well done team.

Liverpool can afford to play that style because of the players they have.

If a Championship side comes up playing a style and only that style they normally get stuffed over a season.

Surviving is about being adaptable and employing a horses for courses system to ensure survival.

Reading into the Messi situation it appears the only way he can unilaterally terminate his contract is if someone activates his buyout clause (630m pounds).

His get out clause expired in June, I guess his representation is going to argue that it was intended to be after the season finished. Seems likely any transfer this window is going to require Barca's permission and likely a transfer fee. Nobody is going to activate the 630m pound end of contract clause.

Yep Messi is staying unless he is actually. Free transfer.

Ok, for the sake of clarity, what does the following sentence mean? Specifically the word exposed.

"Is there a chance Bielsa's system gets exposed in the PL?"

His system will be exposed as his players are predominantly Championship quality players, so only signing 2-3 players means that he is relying on them as the bulk of his squad. Expecting to use a system that worked in the Championship without improving the quality of players won't see them succeed. You only have to look at Fulham who not only DID go out and spend a lot on new players, but tried to play the same attacking high energy game (Norwich last season too) who got heavily exposed.

I thought that would be quite straight forward to understand?

I don't think they go down just because they don't put everyone behind the ball. When most think they should.

Of course I hope they do.

Highly fit pressuring players can press against a league 1 oppo or epl. It helps to have mane but a Daniel James can pretty much do the same.

They might win points unexpectedly due to the coaching style.

Well nobody can say that for certain, can we? We will find out in a few weeks.

I'm not sure what you are getting at regarding robbing Peter to pay Paul, you were talking about squad depth, obviously if depth is tested you don't have your first choices in there regardless?

Struijk is an outstanding young DM prospect, I have no reservations about him covering for Phillips if that is what you were referring. He did it for the last 4 games of the season whilst Phillips was injured and was close to our best player in that period.

Some people have argued the PL should suit his system more than the Championship being a 38 game season vs a 46 game season.

The PL is a hell of a lot quicker and a hell of a lot more skilful than the Championship.

Sure there's less games but that's negated by the quality of the opposition players.

Unlike Norwich and Fulham , Bielsa is proven.

Yes it hard with low quality players but he just got a gun striker and 17th is a win

I'm a little surprised they weren't more heavily in for Bowen, but I guess once Silva went that interest probably went with him (since he had worked with Bowen before). They should be targeting those sorts of players with re-sale value as they can't just run a slush fund forever.
I think some mid table teams didn't think he was at the required quality for whatever reason, think he's proven them wrong so far or would like to think so.

Diangana on the left and Bowen on the right should be pretty decent.

It means if you are rigid and only play one way you'll be exposed in a lot of games when you come up against good teams, better players and better managers.

I don't know if Bielsa has a lot of variation in the way his team's play. Is there a plans B,C or D if plan A doesn't work.

Sometimes you have to be able to forget about playing the pretty football style and get down and dirty and play different ways to try and get results.

Bielsa may be aware of some of those points.

What do you want me to say?

You are asking a hypothetical that has no way of being answered as we have been down for so long and the manager has only managed in La Liga, Ligue 1, Serie A at international level and through South America.

We will have to wait and see.

We don't have to make the CL, we just need to outperform 3 other sides.

Bielsa may be proven but at this level his players with his tactics are not

I'm struggling to understand how you can answer a completely unknown hypothetical with such authority.

Oh, it's you.

This probably needs to be cleaned up and moved to the matchday 1 thread for further discussion.

Coming from a guy who cheered against us for 2 seasons only to see us get promoted whilst his side got relegated to League 1 :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:

Didn't you spend most of last season rooting hard for any team that played Hull?

Spot on. Bottom half sides can play attacking football with flair but what separates them from the top clubs is goal scorers. Where they have decent goalscorers the big clubs have world class goalscorers, who can make 1 great strike that wins them the game.

Leeds will need to do better than Rodrigo.
